What the hell did we do to piss off that network? It's blatantly obvious to me they have it out for my University and I'm none to pleased about it. When does it end with these 17ers? They tried to blow up the Mirando talk and even baited Mullen into a few choice words for the reporter (sorry forgot the name). They puked UOM to the nation all day long over and over and said almost zero about State all day. They are influencing recruits big time. They are the evil empire and somebody has got to figure out a way to get them off their agenda of pushing Ole Miss and intentionally hindering MSU. Somebody anybody step up to this way over-powered corrupt mega-network. Rant over

Simmer down.

They can barely tell us apart from ole miss, they're not pushing some agenda pro them and anti us.

Hell, half the espn writers are all but blatantly accusing ole miss of cheating.

#24 on 247. I'd say they're damn close. Outside of Jones, it's a fairly meh class - on paper.

You are really getting upset about a ESPN recruiting ranking?...

..Jeez. What do you want? To win actual football games? Or win some cosmetic popularity contest sponored by the preening narcissists @ ESPN? I'll get in trouble if I continue, so I'll just stop typing while I'm still ahead.

Ok so the rating isn't far off but what about with Chris Jones? They have him rated like #70 overall or some stupid **** like that and what's up with ESPNU becoming Ole Miss TV today complete with multiple on-site announcers and multiple interviews with Freezus and even a camera crew set up to catch the UOM coaches reactions to the announcements. It was basically NFL draft day coverage. They have an agenda and the agenda is to hype up Ole Miss for their tv coverage in the fall. They didnt hype MSU when we *** raped Michigan. They hate MSU. It's hard enough competing against the big boys and now we have the most powerful sports network hyping our rival to no ends. I like the check they give us though. 17ers

It's not the rating that bothers me. That was just my thread heading. It's the non-stop Ole Miss TV the nation was just presented with that bothers the 17 out of me. It's unfair! They gave Ole Miss millions and millions of free marketing today. How are we supposed to compete with that? I think today was the best day for Ole Miss in that schools history and it's all thanks to the 17ers at ESPN.

Perhaps there is a worse recruiting service than ESPN, but if there is I don't know about it. Mississippi worked hard to hype their class around Nkemdiche. Hand it to Nutt for rolling the dice on older bro. That bet paid off major dividends. Once the hype machine got going, it snowballed and they rode the wave. ESPN simply went with the hot hand. We didn't have an answer. Not saying we could have had an answer given the mountainous wave of pub they had. It's unfortunate that they caught the wave like that and we got shut out.

At least there's a basketball contest tonight and we could get our reveeeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggeeeeee !111!11!1

You do realize they signed a top 5 class, correct?

2 of the top 5 prospects in the country?

So yes, the coverage by ESPN is warranted.

And unfortunately you are correct, it's free ad time. It's also a hell of a recruitment tool to be used by them, but it's not the end game. There is a simple way to trump all of it next year.

In case you haven't noticed...

...Ole Miss has transformed Signing Day into a jubilant celebration of unparalleled achievement, regardless of the ranking of their class. If the Ole Miss class would have been ranked 87th in the country, Freeze would still go before the press & brag about his class full of good Christians, ignored sleepers, & diamonds in the rough. All you are seeing is ESPN lending their network technology & hype to that yearly carnival.

I like to take a composite average of all 4

recruiting sites to gauge our rankings

MSU rankings :
Scout #18
Rivals #23
247 Sports #24
ESPN #25

_________
Average: #22.5

And what is UOM ranked on all 4 of those sites? Without looking I'm gonna guess ESP17N is the highest.

I know 247 had OM at #2 and ESPN had them at #5 after they landed Conner.

It's not a ******* ******* conspiracy.

What's unfair about it? Mississippi's recruiting class was the biggest story out there. What was ESPN supposed to do? Ignore it?

When the media starts building someone/something up they better watch out.

Right now the media is making a huge story out of Freeze and Ole Miss, everybody is gonna want to get their 2 minutes off their ***. It's the off season and if even the slightest secondary violation pops up their class is gonna be under a microscope. They are the C/D student who all of a sudden made a 100 on the final exam. I frankly wouldn't want to be in Freeze's position. Maybe leave one or two of those late flips alone.

I didn't realize we had four 5 stars commit on national tv today. Actually everyone in our class was already comitted. Stop acted like ESPN was out to get us. I hated to watch it,as well, but Ole Miss deserved all the attention they got.

You realize Sportscenter and espn news show basically the same thing over & over again all day, right?

You're not supposed to keep watching it. You catch 30 minutes in the morning, 30 minutes at night, and you're up to date on the sports world. Anything more & you're watching ESPN way too much.

That's what I was thinking. Ole Miss is the Manti Te'o of SEC football programs. Just wait until they get skulldrug by Vanderbilt in their opener.

I wish he would

have left some of the late flips alone, considering every single one went against us. In the last 2 months we lost all of these from our commit list: Barber/Daniel to AU, Reed/Cummings to Florida, and Hill to Bama. There are probably others, this phenomenon was well-documented here via numerous posts entitled 'House of Cards !!!1!!11' or some variant thereof.

On top of that, I'm not aware of us flipping anyone. We tried with Jones, but you guys got him. I guess you could say we flipped Golson from FSU, but when 75% of a team's assistants leave just before signing day it isn't all that uncommon for said school's commits to look around.
