I'm sick of all the rumors that appear each week saying he will play. Glad to read something that puts this situation into better perspective. While i'm not happy about what it says I would be thrilled to see Sidney stick around another year and play for us next year.

F*ck off, NCAA. I hope your review members die a slow, excruciating death some day.<div>

So, they're trying to get Sidney for:
1. Giving incorrect details of a trip he took four years ago (as a high school freshman, nonetheless)
2. His family using money donated to organizations they ran for something other than the organizations themselves (which is sketchy, and possibly illegal, but hardly was handled by Renardo himself)
3. He got "excess" Reebok gear while his dad was indirectly working for the company, or at least associated with folks working for the company
4. Some expenses were paid by someone else for an unofficial visit to some collegiate institution

I can see the issue with #2, but you'd need some real hard proof to show that Renardo was the reason the money was donated and then expected to be misused by his parents.
The rest are minor at best, and a stretch at worst.

They desperately want to get some dirt on him and that's the only thing that seems to stick. So they'll push for the maximum punishment, which is pretty weak, since it happened when he was a freshman in high school. Hopefully he'll come back next year and we can get a full season out of him.

That list sounds more serious than I had initially envisioned. At first thought, I would think there is ZERO chance of him ever seeing a college court. However, forfeiting his amateur status because of the AAU stuff (which, I think are the most serious allegations) seems like it might open up a can of works for many future college athletes. I'm not sure if the NCAA wants to 17 with the AAU system since it basically runs the majority of bball recruitment, or if this is just their chance to "make an example" of a sacrificial lamb so they can sleep better at night.

that him sitting out this entire year will be punishment enough. That being said, I fully expect him to NOT be here next year.

Come on, this is not a court of law. You can't convict the kid of perjury. Damn.

Is there a NCAA violation or not. Get this over with.

I think they could only appeal if the process wasn't followed by the board who reviewed the contested statement of facts. I think the process is farther along then Andy says. That being said, this is the first I have seen the exact statements regarding the potential violations.

but my guess would be he is no guiltier than anyone other high profile high school player. Lebron 17ing James showed up the other night at a in Lexington because he, Cal, and John Wall are all "friends".Give me a break. College basketball recruiting is so dirty, and yet our stud is the only one being punished. I am really just starting to believe the NCAA hates us.

he's just one of the ones foolish enough to get caught. And if he was too young & immature to know better, his parents certainly were not.
