I still don't think that's true, but I wonder where that came from. We weren't even considered a fringe candidate for an at large berth 2 days ago, and it's not like we've beaten a top 5 team since then.

Maybe with so many bubble teams going down...

as long as it isn't Tenn or Auburn.

edited to add: I think we beat Florida or Alabama in the Championship game. Just to clarify.

...since it's a game against a non-Division I opponent.

Edit to add: MSU only has 20 D-I wins.

He's the only one at ESPN who has credibility talking about who's in/out. The rest are just talking about who they think should be in or out. edited to say: Looking at Lunardi's most recent chat wrap, he says Auburn has to make the championship game to get in. If that's what they need, then it won't be enough for us.

...MSU's RPI was 78 before playing USC. Before we played UGA, it was 84. I'd guess MSU's RPI is now around 70. If by chance we beat LSU, the RPI will be around 60, which is still way too low to hope for an at-large berth.

...there are 16 teams vying for five open at-large spots. And that bubble could squeeze even smaller with Baylor making a run as you mention, but not only that....Duquesne is beating Dayton and Temple beat Xavier today, so a Duquesne win will knock another bubble team out. I don't see any way we make it without winning the tourney. I feel the same way about Auburn, and I think they'd be considered before us.
