John Miller is fine, but Joe Morgan and Orel Hershiser try to outdo each other.

They are unbearable to listen to.

why they don't get rid of Joe Morgan. Really- it's a simple solution. I don't really care for Orel Hershiser, but Jon and Orel would be 10 times better.

Joe literally knows nothing except how to play second base. When it comes to pitching, he's completely lost. I think that's a big reason why Orel Hershiser is there- because he obviously knows pitching. Check that- Orel just knows more than him period in just about everything except playing second base.

Joe's problem is he always thinks that he is right, and he thinks that he is a baseball icon up there with Willie Mays. I will admit that he was a great player, and certainly a Hall of Fame player, but he's arrogant and stuck on himself with a lethal combination of stupid. He reminds me of the jock in high school that thinks that he is awesome because he has a CC scholarship offer. As great a player as he was, it's really hard to endear yourself to America when you are a prick. It's not surprising that Sparky Anderson put Joe and Pete Rose's lockers next to each other.

You watch a game, and you can tell that he gets on Jon Miller's nerves, and I suspect he annoys the hell out Hershiser as well, and that's probably why Orel has to try to fit something in before he dumbs down America any further, plus the third wheel thing.

I honestly have no clue why ESPN doesn't fire him. He used to have really close ties to Barry Bonds and was one of the only guys in the media that Bonds would talk to candidly. Of course, now that Bonds has retired, Joe literally has no use except to piss people off. The only thing I can think of is he must have pictures of ESPN's CEO's with naked goat pictures or the girl that Steve Philips was cheating on.

When I am forced to watch Sunday night Baseball (which I won't do unless Boston is playing) It is a lot more enjoyable with MUTE.
I have no love for Joe Morgan and could care less about his continuous promotion of the "big red machine" and his other agendas.

for most of the Braves' games this year, I forked over the $20 to get MLB's Audio package for the season. Listening to a ridiculous amount of baseball on the radio, you really develop an appreciation for the roles in the booth. One guy should be calling the action and the other should be commenting on it, period. Anything more and the guys will be tripping all over each other all night.

I can't stand play-by-play guys who feel the need to add their uninformed analysis (see Joe Buck and Chip Caray) or color guys who, even when spoon fed by their play-by-play man, don't have anything interesting to say (Joe Morgan's problem). That's why the Sunday Night booth is so ridiculous. Morgan has nothing of interest to say, which causes Miller to set up him up constantly and come away with nothing. Then, Miller has to say more than he should in order to fill dead air. Over the years, I've developed a respect for Miller for trying, because I'm convinced the awkwardness isn't even his fault. I wish Joe would dis or grab a female so that ESPN would fire him.

What is Orel even supposed to be doing? Just commenting on pitching? If there's going to be a third guy, he should be a stat geek or clubhouse/front office type of guy so that he can easily interject when certain things come up. I agree that Orel might be fine if it were just he and Miller in the booth, but without some clear cut role, every time he talks it sounds like he's interrupting.
