Who cares if they got political? So what if ESPN decided to focus more on social issues or other topics that you might not like. Whoop dee do. So many posters act like someone shot their dog because ESPN decided to cover Michael Sam, Caitlyn Jenner, or any other number of social issues. If they were advocating for issues you care about, there wouldn't be a word about it. This whole thing isn't about covering political/social issues, it's about covering issues you don't agree with.
Yeah, reporting on sporting events does not matter anymore to snowflakes like you. It seems more people agree with me than you. Continue to live in your mothers basement little boy. If you like drama then have at queenie.

It kind of reminds me of NASCAR. They tried to reach out to a new demographic which ended up making their core fans mad. The demographic they reached out to was never going to be longtime fans and they made their core group mad and now a lot of them have left too.

Yep and Dale Sr. died and Dale Jr. is retiring, not good for NASCAR

Way more to it than that. NASCAR is simply a dying sport, with lots of older fans dying off every year and not being replaced, as younger people just flat don't follow it. Throw in cookie cutter tracks, cookie cutter cars, mundane drivers who nobody hates or loves, sponsorship losses, and rules that change constantly depending on who is crying the hardest have all lead to the steep decline in popularity. I live near Bristol, and the spring race has become an embarrassment in terms of attendance. It used to be that when either the spring or fall race was on, you simply didn't go out to eat because restaurants would be packed and the traffic was horrible. Now you wouldn't even know they were having a race in the spring, and even the August race doesn't have the impact that it once did. The "Battle of Bristol" football game between UT and VT was a far bigger draw than NASCAR.

Since RJ Reynolds dropped their sponsorship, NASCAR has been going backwards in terms of $$$$$. From Sprint to Monster this year with Monster reportedly paying half of what Sprint was paying. What's next after Monster? They still have a sweet TV deal, but when that expires in 2024, NASCAR may find itself looking like some of the teams now who are short on sponsors and find themselves in the garage area loading up their equipment and wondering if they can make the next race.

Well, not really. They just had MASSIVE layoffs because, not coincidentally, they've gotten too political the last 3-5 years. It's been a long time coming. People don't wanna watch that and they clearly haven't been. Ratings have been ****, advertising took a hit, they lost money, they had to layoff some really good journalists.

It's what happens when you pander to the minority. Not gonna make a great deal of money. Most people never did and still don't wanna watch ESPN and listen to lectures about political issues on every show all day.

This is something snowflakes have not figured out yet. It was ok a few years back but has gotten old because people are being saturated with it and it is being pushed beyond tolerance levels.

LOL. How about you show some maturity and decorum in a public place without behaving like a dramatic name calling teenager who acts brave behind a keyboard?

I care and so do millions of other people, snowflake
Me: Makes valid point.
You: Gets mad at valid point because it hurts your feelings. Decides to name call.

Feel free to call me a snowflake, or as another poster said, "queenie" or a "little boy." It doesn't bother me but I can already see that what I say bothers you.

Not to hijiack, but I've wanted to post something similar for a while for my wingnut friends of the red and blue persuasions.

Both political sides get snowflakey over stuff they don't like. We already know liberals get snowflakey over PC language, speech they don't like, the environment, so-called income equality, minimum wage, white privilege and corporate welfare. Conservatives may not realize it, but they get snowflakey when it comes to someone questioning the authenticity of their invisible space fairy and its literary works, gay people being covered positively, the size of the defense budget, coffee cups at Starbucks at Xmas time, the pisser at the Target store and anything to do with guns.

Believe it or not, there's left wing PC and right wing PC. Both sides are sensitive little fellers when it comes to certain issues. AND, both are very easy to rile online (hobby of mine) by pushing a few of the right buttons.

Amen! These posters get defensive over what I said and yet criticize others for being sensitive little snow flakes. Liberals and conservatives are nothing but a bunch of hypocrites.

Who is the one who took offense? You did with your whoop de do you act like someone shot your dog comments and stepped it up a notch. Now your are whining because someone called you on it. The typical snowflake response. Sorry folks but snowflake is a good name. Snowflakes melt when the going gets hot.

Does this include that tall oompa loompa in DC who whines on twitter everyday because he handles criticism about as well as Billy Clyde Gillispie/my 4-year-old nephew?

Asking for a friend, of course.

Absolutely. However, in his case it could be seen as firing back since he has been attacked since day one. Obama was worse but, you did not see it as much because he was coddled like a newborn by the mainstream media. It you cannot see that you should check your hypocrisy meter.

I don't necessarily agree with the name calling , but you didn't really make a "valid point" more of an obscure , fuzzy opinion.

Obama whined about Fox News all the time and the GOP quite a bit, but I never saw him go full-on teenage girl on Twitter like Cap'n Cheeto and start attacking people's looks and ****. Trump is a high school kid in an old man's body. He can dish it out but can't take it - classic signs of an insecure bully.

Full disclosure: I don't hate Trump because he's a Republican. I've loathed that mofo since the 80s when he was a VERY liberal Democrat. He's just a ****** human being and nothing he's done has ever changed that opinion. It's just grown stronger.

Attacking people's looks? Sorta like calling people names ? (Like you just did ) lol

Just sayin

Trump is pretty bad but no worse than Obama and certainly a gazillion times better than Hillary (who still doesn't seem to be over her embarrassing loss )

That being said- the sad thing is , is that "we the people " essentially only had two options - Hillary and trump - and both of em kinda sucked. The two party system is broken

I agree 100 percent with your last point.

As to the first one, the difference is, I'm a random dude posting anonymously in the general discussion section of a sports message board. The other is the president of the United States. It seems one of those people should be judged at a much higher standard. Hint: It's not me.

Obama did not get the full onslaught that Trump is getting to be fair. One network vs the rest.

I was never a fan of Trump but, it is refreshing that we have someone who will tell just about everyone where to go. Most importantly, even though he ran on the GOP ticket, he is not a true republican. They suck almost as much as the democrats.

Fair points all around.

My biggest beef is Trump can dish it out all day, but can't take it when it comes back at him.

I know you can probably dish it out and take it as well. I'm the same way. Ball busting, verbal jousting or whatever you want to call it is more fun with give and take IMO.
