They had some good games this past year, won't matter next year when the ESPN deal starts... That's the reason Comcast added the ESPNU.</p>

that is only available to a portion of the viewing public. Anyone on satellite can't get CSS. It's ridiculous for them to have a contract with the SEC.
I'm hoping that once the new deal with ESPN goes through, there will be little or no games on CSS anymore.

ESPN will carry all SEC games on one of their channels(ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN Classic, or ESPNU). I am sure CSS will carry the ACC or some other conference's games from now on. Got to love all the options...

there may still be a place for CSS, namely SEC baseball. i highly doubt espn picks up lots of SEC baseball. plus, those SEC games that are away games could be shown, if ESPN doesn't pick them up. for instance, MSU at MTSU or USA. if espn doesn't show them, at least CSS may (or someone else).

Obviously its a personal problem...only its a personal problem for ANYONE that isnt a Comcast subscriber. Or ANYONE that isnt in the right viewing area. Its a **** ton of personal problems added up.
and I will concede that if that is the case, my point loses validity. I have always assumed if CSS didn't have the contract for the games it carries, someone else would pick them up. I could be wrong.
I have the regular HD cable package. I would assume that ESPNU would be put on the regular package.
I am just being a smart-***. It would suck if you can't get cable, like my parents, my dad comes over to watch games he can't get. He has Dish b/c he lives out in the middle of nowhere... Maybe one day it will be better, but CSS is Comcast Sports, so I don't see them ever putting it on satellite.mstateglfr said:

i was thinking you could add HD to digital starter, which is what i have now. i'm moving (staying in jackson area) in 2 weeks and looking to add HD. i don't really want to deal with satellite, as it doesn't seem like it'll save me any money (by the time i pay for several receivers and local channels).
i am getting a good deal on what i have now, and was thinking about just adding HD and one HD-DVR.

i am trying to find my happy place while considering comcast, directv, and dish, while also comparing tivo (which i love, but doesn't work with digital/hd without more $$) with the dvr's of comcast, directv, and dish.
if anyone knows - i understand you can use one satellite receiver for two tv's in separate rooms (and watch different things on each tv). my question is can that receiver be a dvr, and can you watch dvr'ed shows in either room? i'd like to have two, and it would save a few bucks if it worked that way.

Two separate DVR's, but I'm not sure if you can watch a recorded program from either TV.
btw, DirecTV DVR has way more capacity than Comcast. Comcast advertises capacity of 20 hrs of HD. I've got over 20 hours in HD on my DirecTV DVR, and I still have 79% available storage. </p>

2. The dual-tuner thing has one drawback - only one tv (the primary one it is located next to) will be in HD. The 2nd tv is in standard def. You can, however, record 2 different HD shows simultaneously.
3. Dishnetwork DOES have the local NBC, ABC, CBS and FOX affiliates in HD.

Madison open to cable TV rivalry

MADISON, Miss. (AP) - Madison has approved a video services agreement with AT&T that will allow the company to compete with Comcast for television viewers.
The Board of Aldermen this week gave AT&T the right to enter the market.

apparently if you think Comcast has bad service, AT&T's is far worse. People also say the quality isn't as good. No idea why.
I don't even care of AT&T is worse. I just want to have another cable company to go to when I throw down an ultimatum to keep my "Package" price. Hell, even if I have to switch back and forth to get the best deal, I would do it. Comcast rewards new customers with intro pricing, but sticks it up the *** of current customers.
Why would it be bad policy? They don't have a contract with CSS, Comcast and Charter are joint OWNERS of the channel. If you aren't in a Comcast market there's nothing that can be done about it anyway. If you are in a Charter or Comcast area, that channel is one of their incentives that they can wave around when comparing them with satellite. CSS has been great the last 2 seasons, especially for FB replays and basketball. During baseball season this year, not so much since Comcast has decided to place all Braves games on Peachtree TV on that channel.
According to wikipedia: "CSS is only available on terrestrial cable, and is used as a selling point of terrestrial cable service over satellite services such as DirecTV and Dish Network. For the same purpose, CSS is occasionally offered to subscribers of other cable systems that may or may not compete with Comcast or Charter in their specific markets." Never gonna be on satellite.
