Defense played great, offense looked a little sluggish...maybe holding a few things back for next week?? Either way congratulations trojans on a excellent season so far! That defense is special holding KQ to zero points with the talent they have on offense. I think they may have gotten a couple first downs at most.

Congrats to Essex on making another semifinals. I'm trying to tell people these dudes are the real deal lol. Hopefully my Maroons will get a shot at them in a couple weeks in Salem.

No, remember for a few years there was conference play without traditional regions. 2016 Colonial Beach was undefeated in what was the NND and faced off against Riverheads in 3rd round of playoffs in what was then called the "regional finals"

Is this the 10th straight Region 1A title for Essex?
They didn't play the Covid season, which was won by West Point. Other than that, I can't remember the last time a team other than Essex won the Region A championship. Maybe like 2011 or so.

I agree with your post. To me, the whole afternoon seemed flat. No music playing during warm ups, fans were flat (as always) cheerleaders did very few cheers, band didn’t play as much. Just no excitement.

Gotta clean up a couple things on offense before the big game next week. Riverheads was scouting and best believe they will make you pay for your mistakes.

Definitely did not have a regional championship feeling, felt more like a early September game. Energy was just not there. In my opinion, other then KW that was the poorest offensive game they have played but I do think the play calling was bland for a reason.

Agreed. Darn if we didn’t line up in multiple offenses today with different people in the lineup. Lol

Didn't Sussex Central win the region in 2016? They lost to Riverheads in the state championship and hadn't been shipped off to Region B yet

I think that was back when the setup was different, because I remember Essex playing Riverheads in like the 2nd round that year

KWHSfan maybe you can help with this one. I just saw KQ play in the season finale and play King William about as tough they possibly could in the 2nd half. In that game, as a neutral bystander I like to sit on the visitors sidelines and bleachers (less crowded). I noticed KQ had at least 25-28 players on the field and sidelines. Yesterday it was more like 17 or 18 total. What happened to all of those players from just like 3 weeks ago?

I'm not sure. I wasn't at the game yesterday.
