Both teams will be coming in undefeated, with the tigers not allowing a score yet?? Haven't seen KQ play this year, but they got some playmakers that can score from anywhere. Can't really go off of competition, although I was expecting Northumberland to be a little bit better this year with Sheldon and the KW and Caroline score was surprising. I think this could be a toss up. Essex has the speed on defense this year to contain KQ.

Both games last year the defenses stood out. The first game was 7-6 late 3rd when the infamous shots fired didn't allow the game to be finished. In the regional championship, the score was 28-16, but Essex had 2 non offensive TDs and KQ had one. In any game like this, turnovers can be the difference between a close win and a close loss. Take nothing away from any other team in Region A, but these are the 2 best teams and barring unforeseen circumstances, I think this will be the first of two meetings between the two teams this year, with the 2nd game being in the regional championship

Essex has depth and an outstanding defense. KQ has a high powered offense, and a defense that hasn’t allowed a touchdown. Essex is tough with a good win under there belt this season, KQ will have to play a perfect game if they want to win. Not knocking KQ by any means but I think a much improved Essex team wins this game by at least 2 TDs.

I would love to cover this game for Virginiapreps but I don't see anywhere to park. Are the games played at the High School?

It looks like there is a parking area behind the high school with the field through the woods? I'd like some insight as well. Plan on getting there early!

Yes, park behind the school then walk over a foot bridge through the woods to the stadium.
They sometimes let the visitors park in the field behind the visitors bleachers. Especially if they expect alot of spectators. Otherwise park behind the school and walk over the foot bridge. Be careful, that bridge is slippery.

Essex grad 5 or so seniors last year with 2 or so being starters. The QB Ball who’s now a DB at Ferrum and Roane at DL/C who’s now a DL at Christopher Newport. During the off season those positions have been filled with solid talent along with some solid transfers.

King & Queen returns 18-19 starters who have been starters for the last 3 or so years.
