Current seating 4660 chair backs in 15 sections. Including box seats that's right at 300 seats per section. Including bleachers capacity currently at 7200.
Renderings show 26 sections including both tiers. Figuring total of 600 per tier pair (top and bottom) gets you to 7800 in the grandstand. I'm guessing is closer to 8,000. Using the record crowd, accounting for chairs and bleachers, there were at least 8,686 in the outfield and suites. Adding that to my guess of 8,000 puts capacity over 16,700. I think that is conservative because there will be more suites, etc., and then there is the berms on each side. Unofficially I think you can put 20,000 in the place.

Think you are overshooting a good bit on chairback capacity. We currently get 300 per section -- but these new sections are significantly shorter for the most part. Probably closer to 200 per section. And several of the upper deck sections are going to be loge and thus not hold nearly as many people(at first glance it looks like each of the furthermost sections are)...

I think we're looking at 6500ish general grandstand seats. Keeping in mind that open concourse actually gives us room to put another 1500 plus inside the actual stadium -- before making it to the outfield... I agree that overall capacity including SRO is probably going to actually increase in this....

Trustmark has 5800 permanent seats (for comparison). We need to be smart about what we add, but i damn sure want a chairback when i go to a game. the berm is nice, but i would like for us to be a little more aggressive on the number of chairbacks we offer. they are walking a fine line because you dont want it to look empty on a thursday night ESPN game like last season, but a simple way to alleviate this problem is to section off the upper deck and only allow lower deck seats for those types of games. permanent seating makes this a problem so perhaps they could section off a few areas on the lower for GA...i dunno, we need a unique solution to solve the problem, but during the big weekends, we will be wishing we had more chairbacks rather than less. its a numbers game and i feel confident we will be near where we need to be. its really an issue of access and walking a fine line between doling out GA in the right place and keeping those with season tickets happy.
