He can be close to a much more successful Ole Miss baseball program. Maybe Bianco will sign him.

j/k....I have no idea who Ethan Bright is

considering he's from Batesville, that's not outside the realm of possibility. I can't imagine him coming back to MSU, but you never know.

Cohen used an MIP as an opportunity (excuse) to get rid of the kid since he oversigned. He was asked to transfer "in his best interest". Cohen waited out the semester to see if anyone got hurt or if ne needed Bright for any other reason. If Powers hadn't come back, you can bet that Bright would still be at State.

That would absolve Ethan from any personal responsibility, wouldn't it?

I doubt any of that is true because Ethan was one of our most wanted prospects. If things had gone well, Ethan would not have been in any danger of being left off the team. None.

It's unfortunate, but I think the young man may have made some critical mistakes. Sometimes the truth is tough to face.

Bright is off the team because of the two MIP's, but Cohen had to get rid of some of these kids he signed because he would be well over the roster limit otherwise. This is a convenient way to tell him to move on since Powers came back. You better believe that Bright will not be the last to be told to find another place to play. Look how many he signed for next year. This will eventually catch up to him though.</p>

That's assuming that Cohen continues to oversign. I feel that once we get a competitive team he will scale back to only what he needs.

Back to Ethan. From what I understand, Ethan Bright was one of our top two or three pitching prospects in his class. Some have said that he was number one. As bad as we need pitching, I still say he was in no danger of being left off the team even with Powers coming back and the oversigning situation.

Heck, we still need to release three more guys. I'm willing to bet none of them will be one of our better young pitchers and dual-position player like Ethan Bright.

this is the way its been for a while. We are just catching on. It never caught up to Bertman and it hasn't caught up to Perno. It happens a lot of places and is one of the reasons we sucked.

And its not secret, Cohen in all the recent articles talks about having to make cuts to get to the 35 limit. Why the NCAA thought a 35 limit would help anything is beyond me.

What I was attempting to say, was that Cohen has to cut players anyways, including scholarship kids, because you can only have 27 or 30, I dont remember which one, so Bright pretty much sealed the deal by getting into trouble. Even with this he still has to cut around 5 kids I think.
