I watched him punt on a live stream when Mad Central played at SHS when he was a senior. We had him committed to play baseball at that point. I told several dawg buddies we needed to let him punt and here we are.

The commentators for our game noted that punts coming off the left-foot (e.g. Pulliam) have a different rotation, and because of the rarity of left-footers, can cause problems for punt-returners - apparently that was an issue for the TN returner. Secret weapon!

Nothing more Mississippi State than having a punter for a secret weapon…

What's absurd is that even though Pulliam was night and day better, Lebby was playing two punters through the first four weeks of the year.

Maybe its my old age kicking in, but I thought I heard them say in one of our earlier games that Lebby was alternating them to cause more issues with fielding because of the difference in left and right footed spin which also causes the ball to drift the opposite direction when coming down.

That's probably true.

Fortunately coach figured out that if the right footed kicker kicks it off the side of his foot OOB, then that advantage is negated.

That's a classic example of outsmarting yourself as a coach and if true, it doesn't inspire confidence.

Spin could have been it, but I was chalking that drop up to the sun. It was in almost the same spot on the field that our receiver dropped a would-be TD pass.

Maybe, but it's still a huge mistake on his part. The difference between the two punters couldn't be any bigger. One looks like an average HS punter. One looks like he will be playing in the NFL in a couple of years. It's hard to imagine any coach looking at these two and saying, let's alternate them.

At the risk of getting the faculty ticket discount haters stirred up, both of Ethan's parents work on campus for MSU. Therefore he gets free tuition (1/2 tuition paid by the university for each parent that works for MSU) as do the children of all faculty. My question is I wonder if he even counts against our athletic scholarship total since that is the case?

I was introduced to him when he was in the 10th grade and was told then that he would be our punter one day soon....
