according to his worksheet.

Of course, this apparently isn't an advantage b/c he has USM as the #9 best team so OM goes there in his projections.

Man, USM is one overrated team.

If they host, that's the regional I want to be in, followed by Hattiesburg.

...which means if the Sun Devils lose their appeal, the Eagles are the National 8-seed according to his worksheet.

I cannot understand where all the love for them is coming from? The perfect game clowns love them. They love the CUSA, too. I don't get it. You would think they're on the verge of being a top 3 team, listening to Kendall Rogers. Conversely, he hates us.

They did go to Omaha recently, have a good RPI,and C-USA, although no SEC, is generally a decent baseball conference.

so I have watched them play a few times this year. They are not spectacular, just a good baseball team. They have 3 good starters and a really good closer. They also have arguably the best pro prospect in the state in Vollmuth. He may be the worst fielder I have seen, however. Usually every year at least 1 C-USA team gets to host. That team is usually Rice. The next two weeks will see whether or not USM gets to host or not, as the play Houston and the current #2 Rice. Right now they are 10 in RPI and 1st in CUSA. So, if the season ended today, then I think they have earned the right to host. Sidenote: They are 3-3 against the SEC.

you have to look at it a little further than that.None of those 6 games was against a teamwith a winning record in the SEC (combined 42-56 record). If you put them in the SEC, they'd be fighting to make it to Hoover just like we are.

Having seen both teams play, I don't think they're any better than us. They maybe have a little bit deeper starting rotation but that's about it. Vollmuth and one of their starters are the only guys that I would trade for over someone on our team.

This is one time where not playing in the SEC is an advantage for them. I think that C-USA is a good baseball conference and deserves maybe a regional host, but not a bid. This is clearly, at least to me, part of the politics of college baseball which feels the need to help out teams from the north and smaller conferences.

the fact they haven't played a top 25 team is awful.

We'll probably get punished for our nonconf schedule yet they wont' get punished for their entire schedule.

But the bottom usually sucks and this year, the top half is down from what it usually is. Right now, it's an average conference at best.
