So I had a few beers on me and almost lost it when I heard a friend essentially selling Lawrence short. It was basically a "well he is the best we got" type stance. <div>
</div><div>I happen to think Lawrence is an outstanding college LB. He is cerebral, physical, does an excellent job shedding blocks and has good range. So I spout off that I think Lawrence could start for the 9 SEC teams not named LSU or Bama (and excluding State). Really, the point I was making was that he was really a good player and not just "the best we got", but how far off was I? </div><div>
</div><div>I think you have to give me Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vandy. I also feel pretty confident he could start at Tennessee, Auburn or Arkansas. </div><div>
</div><div>That leaves Georgia, South Carolina, Florida. Other than Jarvis Jones and Jelani Jenkins, I honestly don't know too much about the LBs on those teams. </div>

Clearly you have to be pretty talented to get 114 tackles in a season. I think he's a smart kid that knows how to run a defense, which it looked like he did some this year. He was calling out checks and repositioning people a lot this year, and to me that's the sign of a leader, which we needed at the LB position this year. I think he could play on all those you mentioned. He's an aggressive tackler, and I just like the way he plays.

He took a lot of heat early in the year from a lot of people on here, and he ended up leadingthe team in tackles by almost 20. Solid year for him, and he's going to be a huge assetnext year.

The thing about Cam is that he improved significantly throughout the year. I remember watching the Memphis game, and thinking how terrible he looked. He took horrible angles and could not get off a block to save his life. Then each game he just got better and better.

Next year, I look for him to do some big things. He has the potential to be a legitimate all SEC player if he continues to improve like he did throughout this season.

of getting himself and teammates in good spots. He seems to understand what the offense is trying to do. And he's around the ball. Unfortunately, knowing what they're doing and having the ability to stop it are two entirely different things. Still, the positives outweigh the negatives in this case.

Well, since only one other player in the conference stopped it as often as Cam did, I'd say he's doing a pretty damn good job.

on the Pack before the season started. He definitely made me a believer, and I expect him to have a hell of senior year. Quality leadership and plays with a lot of energy.

He was a backup having to start, and it showed against Memphis and Auburn. By the time we got to the UGA game, the light had come on. We're now set for 2 years at MLB.

I bashed him early on, but hedefinitelycame around...and so did I.<div>
</div><div>If he was 5% bigger, faster, and stronger, he would be All-SEC and would potentially play on Sundays. Long story short, he's the best we got.</div>

I never understood the hate for the guy. He committed to us almost a year before signing day. He was an early graduate that got here in the spring of 2009 (that alone should earn him some extra respect). He played mostly special teams as a freshmen, and backup LB last year. He was basically our leading tackler in 2010 of guys who didn'tstart...he almost had as many tackles as Gatling. The guygoes 100% every play and always has. He appears to live & breathe football from everything I've read about him. What more could he have done prior to this year to earn our respect?

He's not really even all that "undersized" like people continue to say. He's not our biggest LB but he's certainly not the smallest. Thingslooks bright at LB with him & Skinner returning (who, in my opinion, has improvedeven more than Cam this year - he's going to be a good one).

He's in the 2 deep for at least 1/2 of the schools @ LB. Is an awesome ST's player for the other 1/2....and may get respectable to spot PT for 2 of the other 1/2.

I appreciate what he and his brother have contributed.

Now a days half the people in the state are Alabama or LSU fans. Plus he comes from Bear country. I appreciate their commitment and loyalty to State.

..classic tools of a top LB, but at least he's mean as hell on the football field.

MSU hasn't really fielded a roster of mean players since Jackie's late 1990's teams.

CL is a throwback to those teams.

...more weight on him, put him at MLB between Skinner and Wells and we might have a decent LB corps next season. Of course, if we lose Cox to the league I imagine that would hurt Cam (or whoever plays MLB for us).
