Boston College says their New Balance unis are vastly superior to anything Nike puts out.

Interesting to me that they have to get approval from the Board of Trustees to do that. Perhaps that would be required here as well and I am just unaware.

Are we one of Adidas’s flagship programs? If not we should switch to something else. Here’s an AI overview of why Tennessee switched back to adidas. It’s mostly about increased NIL from the deal:

AI Overview
Tennessee is switching to Adidas from Nike for athletic apparel and footwear starting July 1, 2026, because Adidas made Tennessee a priority, offering a significantly larger, 10-year deal with increased revenue and NIL opportunities. This decision prioritizes the enhanced financial benefits and athlete opportunities provided by Adidas over a longer-term association with Nike, making it one of the best apparel deals in college sports history.

Key Factors for the Switch:

    • Increased Financials & NIL:
The new Adidas deal is worth approximately $20 million annually, a substantial increase from Nike's roughly $5 million deal. This extra funding is crucial in the current Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) era, providing greater opportunities for athletes.
    • Adidas's Priority:
Adidas recognizes the success of Tennessee's athletic programs and is making the Vols a flagship program, aiming for a partnership that elevates both the brand and college athletics.

      Creative Control:
Tennessee will have a significant degree of control over the design of their apparel, which was a concern with the previous Adidas run.

The NIL piece is pretty vague. Does that mean more cash for players or extra sweatshirts, hats, bags etc?

I think we have signed another deal with Adidas.

Oddly enough mom jeans already made a comeback.

On the new balance, I’ve got a pair of ohtani sweatpants I like, but way over priced. had a coupon and a gift card I had to use was the only reason I bought them

It is vague, but the original announcement from UT said Adidas would be paying players directly.

This raises a lot of questions, but the biggest one is what is Adidas doing for the programs that stayed loyal?

Adidas has an Ambassador program that let's all athletes at adidas schools to sign up for NIL opportunities, but they make the deal with UT sound like something more than that.

I already saw J Hubb do a photo shoot for an Adidas apparel ad. Could be just for the Mississippi State consumer base.
