I think if Jarvis does leave then we will be very similar to this year's team minus the SEC tournament title. Just good enough to threaten for an NCAA bid but ultimately falling short. We may have to ask Coach Mullen if he has any very large guys that may want to play some hoops as walkons.

teams will score at will in the paint on us. bailey will average more fouls per game than anyone else in the SEC.

Bailey is a foul machine and won't average 20 minutes a game. Osby is a 3 playing the 4. We will get manhandled

We will also have Ravern, Bost, and Osby a year older and hopefully improved especially on defense. Yall are right about Elgin. He will have to learn to tone it down and quit hacking everything in sight but he does have some upside if he can relax and stay in the games. Again, we won't be great but I don't think we will be totally awful either.

I expect peaches and bongwater to start numerous threads about how Stansbury drove JV into the draft.

Our team will be fine. One man does not make a team.

if Swat and Augustus leave, there is no LR on the horizon....this team is setting up just like that one would have been

No Kodi, No SWAT, no B. Johnson, no new Big Man = under .500 in SEC...

We need SWAT and Kodi back next year...

Varnado and Augustus must be the best 1-2 combo in the league.

Don't get me wrong, Varnado leaving would hurt, a lot, but which is it, 30 wins next season, or two players away from not very good.

so give Stans some credit for outrecruiting them. And it's not like landing a transfer player is something unprecedented in college basketball.

but the fact that Roberts also became immediately eligible is another thing entirely. Transfers have to sit out a year remember? And his arrival with us not having any post players was some outstanding luck.

your two best post players in basketball is huge and can turn any really good team into a below average one quickly. What impact would losing Sneed and his back-up have on Mississippi football this season?

Losing the nation's leading defensive intimidator who will average a double-double along with an Augustus is a killer

About the same as just losing Sneed. But yeah, you're right that if we lose both Varnado and Augustus and don't come up with a pretty good surprise late signee, next year's prospects look a lot dimmer. Not quite the 30 wins to losing record difference you seem to think, but probably more like 28 wins to NIT difference. Without those two, we would be totally outmanned down low.

Have we ever had a season under Stansbury where we were manhandled?
Have we ever had a season under Stans where we lost the 2x national shotblocker and 2x SEC D POY, as well as have no option to replace him or the other post player that is for sure leaving?

Just cuz it hasnt happened doesnt mean it couldnt happen.

If we have Augustus, Osby, and Bailey as the post players...we will play small once again and they will have to stay perfectly healthy for us to not get destroyed a lot.
If Augustus actually leaves like he seems to be hinting, we are Fd. No spin there, we are Fd. We will have to sign some late afterthought JUCO post player and let him dick around in games.

to go pro, provided he is a first round pick, then no recruit would ever believe another word Stansbury ever said. As bad as it would hurt us I hope Varnado goes pro if he goes first round and can get a guaranteed contract...

Do you guys even realize that Jarvis only played around 29 to 30 minutes a game this season? He is a very good player and losing him would hurt tremendously but I don't think his absence would take us from a Sweet 16 to out of the CBI like some seem to think. We won at Ole Miss and against UT with Jarvis playing very little due to foul trouble. Again I am just talking about the loss of Jarvis and not the loss of Augustus too in this topic.

regardless of whether kodi stays, our starting center would have to be bailey, and when he's out, we would have to use augustus (if he stays) or osby in the middle. which is a terrifying proposition. don't forget - we lose johnson too, and have not signed a big man this year.

ETA: against tennessee in the SECT, jarvis played 28 minutes with three fouls - hardly "playing very little".

Just stop.... There are only 40 minutes in a game. That is about the right amount of PT for a Big Man. We would be around .500 in SEC at best without SWAT.

Im dang sure glad hes coming back. I said he was gone because he had told 3 different people that Im very close to that he was gone. Stansbury must have pulled something out of his ***, because Kodi told one of those people that he was leaving 2 nights ago. Im sure glad hes staying tho. If Varnado stays which I think he should, we will be very very good next year
