He won at Ole Miss and has fallen from the Saban tree. His trophy wall contains exactly 2 C-USA titles. Thats it.
It seems like the system is almost custom designed for him to mediocre his way to the top.
Why is he so coveted?
He was getting prime opportunities on spec well before thatHe won at Ole Miss and has fallen from the Saban tree.
I wasn't implying at all that NU is missing the boat by not pursuing Lane Kiffin. Quite the opposite.Lincoln head office did'nt want him as a coach, same then with Utah's coach, urban, saben, etc..
same reason we have better then burrow, millard south qb goes to bama, etc...
can't have a spring game, can't practice tackling, etc..
we can't have nice things anymore.
but I'm sure we will be a pass happy juggernaut next year and ted p won't get injured,
they will paint the N on the helmet pink or probably rainbow next year....:/
Pretty positive Teddy P is out of eligibility, so you may be right. Unless he gets injured at the Elkhorn YMCA.Lincoln head office did'nt want him as a coach, same then with Utah's coach, urban, saben, etc..

Originally he was a hot young name trading somewhat on his dad’s cred. More recently he was stuck at FAU but won there then quickly won at Ole Miss a darned tough place to win.He was getting prime opportunities on spec well before that
There is a common denominator of many successful and up-and-coming coaches today – they all coached under the greatest CFB coach of all time – Nick Saban. He was out over his skis a little in the early part of his career. Probably due mostly to being widely considered a brilliant offensive mind. Plus, I'm sure he had a few more connections than some others, due to who his father was.
When that failed, he took a pretty normal path for that type of head coach. Relegated back to a coordinator position. Happed he was well thought of enough to get on with Saban as an OC at that point, where I'm sure he learned a lot.
Since then, pretty normal trajectory. In 3 years, took a crappy FAU team to 2 conference titles. Got promoted to a struggling, mid level P5 team and turned them around enough to get them into the playoffs.
Plus he's fairly young by head coaching standards, so you have to believe he's still got a quite a bit of gas left in the tank.
What's not to covet? The last 10 years of his career have been a line headed straight up![]()
Be gone with that nonsense.I think people think Ole Miss has been a traditionally good program but that is just not the case. They have sucked for the most part.
What lane (and Freeze) did there would be like taking iowa and making them a top 15ish type team and getting them to the playoffs.
This is the truest thing anyone has ever saidRhule isn’t a zit on Lanes ***. And Lane isn’t legendary by any means.
Lane is a jumper he wants to win a championship but he burns a lot of bridges during his moves, Rhule is a rebuilder now he’s a little slow with Nebraska and I hoping he does simply because he a likable guy and we don’t have much of a choice with the big buy out. Anytime a school hires a new coach it’s a crap shoot if it works out or not
For some fans, the relationship with Rhule is getting toxic. They keep defending him over and over for no reason.Baxter, please stop. Just Stoppppppp. Disparaging Kiffen juxtaposed to praising Rhule is a whole new low...even for you. You really don't see the irony of this post? Rhule is the definition of a jumper. I mean, if you want to use the "jumper" analogy, he is literally the really poor man's wannabe version of Lane. Rhule has jumped everywhere he's been. Only difference is he jumps before he wins anything of substance. Kiffen...not so much.

His view is a little more rational than yours. He realizes the FACT that we’re stuck with Rhule. That FACT seems to evade you in your ceaseless chants to fire them all.Baxter, please stop. This works the same for those who continually trashing him for the most insignificant thingsFor some fans, the relationship with Rhule is getting toxic. They keep defending him over and over for no reason.
iowa fans say the same **** about their lame coach, how it is a process and blah blah blah...well that lame process has been going on for 30 years with that coach in iowa. The process is over.
His view is a little more rational than yours. He realizes the FACT that we’re stuck with Rhule. That FACT seems to evade you in your ceaseless chants to fire them all.
Yeah, that is part of the haters process. This works the same for those who continually trashing him for the most insignificant things
I mean, NU is not stuck with Rhule. They are choosing to keep him, but they are not stuck. His view is a little more rational than yours. He realizes the FACT that we’re stuck with Rhule. That FACT seems to evade you in your ceaseless chants to fire them all.

Yeah, that is part of the haters process.
"Did you see that he licks his lips?!?!?!"
Just win games, that is all real fans care about.
Dang it, you might be right!Pretty sure that was actually an Iowa troll. No way a real NU fan would give a crap about that if Rhule was doing even half the other sh*t right.
the Nebraska fan base is divided now, you want to see a bigger division worse that when bill Callahan was hired you hire lane and the first sign of adversity the base would explode! Imo there is something bigger more internal with Nebraska football than just the coaches. Go ahead convince the regents to have Rhule fired and dollars to donuts the next hire will be the same if not worse results
Agree, except for complaining what other recourse do fans have? Yes boycott but there will always be someone else who buys the ticket or merchandise. Hell I’m a Nebraska homer do I like the results no, but there is signs of improvement compared to frost’s tenure and two of Riley’s years, Bo supporters were in denial yes he won games but he lost games he wasn’t supposed to the latter part of his tenure he got blown out in big games he couldn’t control his anger. Geez Penn st fires a winning coach the first sign of adversity, does college football want to go down that road? College sports has changed forever and not for the better imoCan't argue with that bold part, Baxter. Doesn't mean we have to accept it though.

I guess we were all supposed to start working at Union Pacific at 18 and stay there for 45 years.
