I'm not going to judge the guy's personal life. That's between him and his family. His coaching is something we can judge and is fair game. I'm not sure why we expect these ultra competitive coaches to be saints. What do you honestly expect from a guy in a hyper-competitive, testosterone-filled, multi-million dollar environment?
It's true I love the stoops apologists who live in denial. In case you haven't noticed, the same people were Phillips apologists with an agenda of wanting Kentucky football to continue being a loser by keeping loser coaches around. For some reason the stoops apologists (example caveman) are more than content with sucking. Those are the fans that we need to exile to loser island. We have way too many 'fans' (trolls) that want Kentucky to continue its losing culture by keeping losers around. It's just sad to me. Fans like that who are more than OK with sucking are the reason our program sucks. When your 'fans' are ok with being a loser, then you're going to put a loser product on the field year in and year out. Worst fans ever are the UK fans who are 100% ok with sucking and for some reason we have a lot of them that don't care as long as the sun shines and football is being played. Wins and losses don't matter to those fans. Which is exactly why our program has forever sucked.
If we was competitive then why do we suck so bad? If he was a competitive coach I'd expect us to at least compete against SEC middle of the pack teams once in awhile. But the middle of the pack SEC teams humiliate is just as much as the top tier teams. I refuse to believe stoops is a competitive coach. I mean he did just lose to the garbage OC he had to fire and was even dumb enough to hire him to begin with. Yea lets hire a man who's never called plays at the D1 level in his life, not only that, let's make his first D1 OC job in the SEC. Just pathetic. Stoops is so competitive he put together an SEC staff that consisted of. A first time HC, a first time OC, and a first time DC....... In the SEC? We were destined for failure with coaching hires like that. It's as if til gran he didn't want to hire someone who's a better coach than him so he hires abunch of losers so he can make himself feel like the smartest person in the room. He fires an OC who's first play calling gig was in the SEC, a very garbage OC he hired to begin with, fires him. And that same OC humiliates him on his home turf in his very first game after being fired by stoops. I just don't consider stoops competitive in any way.
After deciding to punt these last couple pints. I know we were on our own 30 on the last one. But that's not competitive. That's conservative loser coaching that we saw a ton of with Phillips who I truly believe would've done a million times better job than stoops with these players. Only problem is Phillips didn't have the resources stoops did so he had to resort to garbage level recruits. But had he had the same facilities I guarantee he would've recruited at UK and every coach in the history of UK before Phillips would've recruited just as well as stoops has if they had same resources. So I can't credit stoops for the recruiting considering the recruiting room before him was a table and metal chairs that no one wanted to play for, now it's a state of the art piece of work, along with all the state of the art upgrades we have.
Brooks would've brought in way better recruits than stoops had we made the upgrades when we were winning. So I can't in any way shape or form credit stoops for the recruiting. Just wish we made the upgrades when we had a coach who knows how to actually coach. Instead we waited til hiring stoops, the trashman, who couldn't coach to save his life. To make the upgrades. The timing was garbage. If we made these upgrades during Brooks tenure, I can almost all but guarantee we'd be a top 3 team in the east and a perennial top 5-7 team in SEC regularly winning 7-10 games a year. That's if we decided to make the upgrades when the program had tons of excitement around it.
If we made these upgrades when players actually wanted to play here. We'd be bringing in top 20 classes every year and I truly believe it would've turned into an Oregon-Esque uprise. Can almost guarantee we'd be the Oregon of the SEC had we invested the money when Brooks was here. He would've stayed longer had MB fulfilled his promises to him. And our recruiting would've been damn near the top during the Brooks era had we made the upgrades then. Instead we're a bottom dweller with top notch facilities and waited to hire a trash coach who can't coach before making the upgrades. What perfect timing MB!! Trash!!!!!!

No. Just made a different point because you referred to stoops as an 'ultra competitive coach' when making a reference to people in his profession. But if he was competitive. Then why are we not competitive? Why are we 6-16 in our last 22 games with zero wins over winning teams with our best win (by record) being a 6-7 FCS EKU team when we need a miracle late 4th qrtr comeback to win in overtime at home? 6-16 with zero quality wins in last 22 games? Just pathetic.

Look at Mark Stoops. This is not a guy being pursued by those who would seek a personal relationship. In the first place, when would he have time? Secondly, he has never been linked to anyone other than his wife. Why is this even a topic of conversation?
