I just had to post this to let off some steam. Well here it is.
As a HS senior I am applying for college and grants along with FAFSA. You're supposed to get on the site when the ball drops. I actually go on it a couple minutes before and it says site is not working refresh. So I obviously refresh right when the ball drops. It says the same thing.

You have to file your tax return first. It asks for 2015 financial information. Will probably need your parents info.

No actually for this they said to use 2014 if you dont have 2015 done, but my parents finished it a couple days ago. The site literally isnt working.

Had Transy's financial aid officer speak at my daughter's school a couple weeks ago. He would tell you to chill out. Really.

Said doing it on the first just stresses you out and you will deal with server issues.

He suggested getting it done this first week but like he said nobody is going to be processing anything for a few days.

No. You can estimate from your 2015 pay stubs to file initially but you have to update once taxes are filed.

Ok thank goodness. Still my teacher told me it normally breaks down around 2 am and never before it even opens so its extremely odd.

What school does your daughter go to? At my school Bourbon County all we got was an assembly that only like 40/180 of us went to. The rest stayed home.

And even then they didnt explain much. No one who actually knew much about. All they said was do FAFSA it will save you money. That is literally all they said for 2 hours. I think everyone was asleep by the first hour.

It's good that you are working on it early. You'll need your parents 2014 taxes, 2015 pay stubs...or at least be able to make good estimates. Just get the thing in asap. There is limited amount of state money for kids going to private schools. It's first come, first serve. When you and your parents file taxes, you can amend the fafsa.

This will be the first time in 10 or 11 years I've not had to do the darned thing.

Actually I could probably get most of my money just based off of my ACT. If I got 2 points higher I'd have a full academic scholarship to almost anywhere. 6 Questions away ARGGH!

My sister cant go because she's mentally disabled and wont be able to hold a job. Plus I'm the last male with my last name. All the pressure is on me.:grimace::grimace:

She goes to Lex. Christian. They have the Transy financial aid officer come in every year to speak to parents. You guys had a lot better turn out than we did. I think we had about 10 families out of 100.

Congrats on everything. Where you wanting to go to college?

You know it's pretty funny on the day they had the assembly they told everyone the day before it was going to be very long. Still after the assembly was over the underclassmen were taking Practice ACT so we just played Basketball the rest of the day.

I'm planning on taking the ACT again just to get those two more points so I can get a full ride. I dont want to leave the state. My best friend said that he'll be my roommate at Morehead if I go there. He's better at grammar and I'm better at math and science so we can help each other out.

Boom. I was thinking the same thing about my son because he and his wife could not conceive and then, just the other day, he called and said his wife was three months pregnant with triplets. They had gone to a fertility clinic and now are expecting. Crossing my fingers here.

Lol that's what your inbred families for
That makes no sense. How would an inbred family pay for your check?

You ever tell people you're really black label wildcat? How's Memphis? This would be a good opportunity to explain why you faked your death.

You should have your other accounts you post on come in here too.

Here's some advice. Get a life, and I don't really mean that in a mean way.

You're a 17-18 year old senior in high school and you chose to spend New Years Eve waiting on the FAFSA website to sign up as soon as possible? If you're elegible, the money will still be there on Monday. Get out and have some fun in the meantime.

Never completed a FAFSA before March/April and never missed out on what little I was actually allowed to receive.

I know it's the Paddock but I don't get why anyone is harassing this kid.

Kid wants to go to college and make something of himself. Obvious that financial aid is going to be a huge deal on whether he goes to college or not.

I'm not harassing the kid. I worked with high school kids for 6 years and if one of them that I knew personally told me that I'd tell them the exact same thing.

OP we had the same issues last night. I finally closed out my browser and then I was able to get on FAFSA. Still an hour of frustration.

I know you weren't. Mainly meant the "inbred family" comment.

Not if he is smart and not lazy. There is money out there to be had along with working your way through college. Grants, scholarships, etc.....one of my sons has been in college now since he graduated high school. He is 33 and is a professional student. Me and his mother helped out the first 2 years and since then he has done it himself through loans, grants, etc....He works at an Apple store after classes and on the weekends and now is paying his loans off plus paying for other classes. There is no need for anyone else to pay for his schooling or this other kids in this thread. Get off of your lazy *** and do it yourself.

I bet the kid goes to college to play trumpet and makes $43k per year when he's 51.
