can't believe much of what you see, hear or read
Just in time for the Epstein files. Right? I wonder why today, would be the day to consider this. When this AI video stuff has been out in the wild for the last 2 years?

Anyway, I recommend we all come together and demand our congress pass legislation that all ALL AI generated content is water marked. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

True, but they seem to be increasing exponentially.

Would that stop the production and views?

The watermark would give authenticity, but how would it stop the fake impersonation productions that are distributed for clicks and/or public influence?

Pretty much the same boring way the rest of our laws. When people are caught doing it they are prosecuted and go to jail. How do murderers get dissuaded from murder?

This is just for example.

The video below is from YouTube today. It identifies as being Cathie Wood. It portrays ARK CEO Cathie Wood by voice and imagery. It is an impersonation.

Again, I agree. We should demand our legislature require that teh BILLIONAIRE OLIGARCHS who control the AI companies, mark AI generated content. So that everyone knows its AI generated. We are all late on this, but I've been saying this for 5 years.

Its going to be hard to have that happen when well... this happened: https://apnews.com/article/ai-regulation-state-moratorium-congress-39d1c8a0758ffe0242283bb82f66d51a

Anyway, **** the federal government.

Putting the genie back in the bottle seems out of reach with our current politics. 😡

How much would that realistically help? You can run AI models locally and bypass those kinds of restrictions

Yah? And it would still be illegal. That's like saying you can make child porn at home so the laws do nothing.

And if Trump has his way, there will be no restrictions on it.

There has just been a surge in the AI impersonation videos by NIL that is through questionable channels. The rhetoric is in line with things I previously liked. You really have to be able to recognize it is an impersonation, personally I don''t want to promote this.

fwiw: left slanted for sure, but the Daily Beast always seems to have good content.

What does that have to do with today's discussion?
Only that we've had a lack of leadership whole sale on this issue I guess. We should be reaching out to our representatives to get this changed.

That's not a great analogy. Unlike that case, there wouldn't be anything prima facie illegal about an AI-generated political video that's portrayed as real.

I don't know that there's a silver bullet, and I'm not thrilled about the development of AI myself. Unfortunately, the ultimate recourse is going to be human judgement and reason, and who knows if we can count on that.

Only works if the laws are adhered to and prosecuted accordingly…..

We all know how the left feels about that…
