I love the quote but for different reasons… A lot of dorky fans love to pretend like even normal fans have to think of it as "one game at a time" but you know the players don't look at it like that just like most of the fans don't look at it like that. I'm glad they're not looking at Wyoming in Fresno state does some kind of tough opponent. Because those are tough opponents that's a problem.
I coached football for a lot of years… And I can tell you right now I have never been part of one staff that ever actually thought about one game at a time. That is all a bunch of BS

Sometimes I just shake my head when I hear callers or read posts about how the fans need to just take it "one game at a time" So lame!
Now, don't get me wrong we all know that there are times when a team overlooks another team or takes them lightly. Like Michigan vs App State...when later on a few Michigan players said they tried getting as drunk and high as possible the night before the game (or something like that)

1. I like the confidence by Farmer. It's nice to see swagger back.
2. Bulletin board material is crap. When Nebraska faces off against Oregon, or any other team, there will be plenty of motivation. If a quote is needed to change the outcome of a game, I'll happily report some crazy **** from an Oregon player.
3. The best programs in football (NFL, college, etc.) do actually focus on fundamentals and they do game plan for each opponent. These teams are building and playing against perfection - not the team playing against them. So I do believe, unless you're calling Osborne, Belichick, etc. liars, I do believe that they don't look ahead in the schedule.

Every coach, especially the good ones, look ahead and start scouting their opponents. I just read an article the other day that the coach at UF already has his staff breaking down film on Kentucky and that is the 4th game of the season.
So, yes, I am calling those guys liars. Shoot, I think TO had said in the past that they would practice for OU's option attack all season long.
You don't really think that the first time that NU is going to look at film on Oregon is that Tuesday (since they don't practice Mondays) of the Oregon game week, do you?
IIRC, there was a Sharp & Benning podcast several months ago with Vrzal on. He mentioned that we need a couple of real a-holes on the O line. I don't disagree.

BTW I probably work with more coaches in a year than you have said hi to in your lifetime.
I can remember every single season I coached when our schedule would come out… We basically knew most of the teams we were going to play each year but there were some fluctuation with about three of them. The first thing we were doing we would look at the schedule at all the teams we were going to play and get a basic idea of where we thought we could have easy wins where he thought there would be games that were going to be very difficult to even come close to winning and where we thought there would be toss up games.

That stuff does motivate. I'm too old and read too man quotes of players after games saying how something was said pissed them off. It's human nature for a man to come with a little extra when he's been called out.
So what you posted was ok? Whatever helps you sleep at night...

I don't disagree that people remember and say it pissed them off. I also don't disagree that a win over someone who says something offensive isn't twice as sweet.
I'm only saying that I don't believe that"motivation" impacted the results. Look, Switzer, Bosworth, et al, had plenty to say that should have given Nebraska enough motivation to never lose to OU, but Nebraska's record during that stretch would suggest that pre-game words didn't matter.
