To be honest, I only saw college football happening this fall one of two ways

1) extreme measures being taken to protect the players. i.e. reinstatement of athletic dorms, curfews, weekly testing, etc

2) just agree to not care about players getting the virus since it’s been proven to be much less deadly in young age ranges

If schools aren’t going to be serious about isolating athletes, and they’re also going to start canceling everything as soon as a few cases pop up, we were kidding ourselves to think that there’d be a fall season

I see no way Spring ball will work. Sure some type of football is better than nothing but how do you go back to normal? This isn't a sport that can play a season then turn around and start a new one Sept 1 of '21. What about injuries? You'd have a guy potentially missing two seasons within the same year. The only bright side would be the tv money would have to be paid to the schools who need it badly but there's no way the quality of play will be much more than simply watchable. If nothing else, it's a good time to be a lame duck coach. I bet guys like Gus are happy to know that all expectations are thrown out the window at this point. If you're terrible, you've always got the covid excuse for a couple years.

Not to mention the NFL’s refusal(so far) to move the draft from April. If you’re a draft-eligible star player like many of the juniors and seniors in the SEC, why in the world would you play spring ball knowing that any injury will kill your draft stock?

There's a lot of problems with spring football. But if we can't play this fall, you can bet they're going to try it.

I think they find a way. It may not be what we want but they will find a way. Many of these guys need to play for thier futures. Many of them will not have another chance. I guess the NCAA can change the five years to play four rule but many of them need to get out and make money. There are also A lot of borderline guys who need to play to get drafted or to have a chance.
