That was actually pretty impressive. More importantly, props to the marketing department. Can you imagine sitting in the meeting that went something like:

"So, how do we create some hype videos for the 2014/15 MSU men's basketball team?"
"Well, all I can think of is we get some practice tape and see what we can come up with."
"Sounds good.."

No, but seriously, he looks pretty fluid for a 6'11 guy. Soft touch too.

I liked his defensive stuff more. Looks like we have another big guy with lift. Haven't had that in a few years.

Can he do that against a team that can defend?

I was praying...

that the first highlight wasn't going to be the best. Moves well and can hit the 15 ft.

Hopefully somebody sells him on rebounding and defending the post (and not relying on blocking shots).

If we can keep him through the transition ...................................................................................

perhaps the next guy can build around him.

Well, I must admit I'm surprised. I didn't realize he was as heavy as he is, I

thought he would be a bean pole. It appears he may have some potential.

Yeah I had no idea he had that much size. Hard to tell much from practice footage but he does appear to have decent touch and a little shot blocking ability.

Shame on me for stereotyping what I was expecting to be the typical big man project. I usually plan on seeing these guys trip over their own feet on the way down the floor more often than making good plays, but Fallou seems to have a legit skill set. While it was only a few shots in the highlight reel, having somebody like him being able to hit a 10-15 footer will be invaluable. Hell, having anyone that can hit a 10-15 footer will be an immediate improvement.

I'm getting wooly and projecting 17 wins next year

A huge difference between him and the big men that we usually bring in is that, likely due to coming from a great program like Findlay, he looks to have gotten great instruction on post fundamentals and technique in high school. That puts him way ahead offensively of post guys who didn't have access to that kind of teaching but still got by on athleticism and size. I'll be happy if we just get good defense, rebounding, and a few cleanup points from for the next few years, but I think if he continues to put on weight he could be a 12+ ppg scorer by the time he's a junior.

I thought the same thing. Good news is he appears much more skilled than John Reik. Pleasantly surprised with his touch away from the goal. Hope he can develop a Charles Rhodes mentality around the rim.

Two problems - he brings the ball down to his waist just about every time he touches it and he's incredibly soft at the rim. I think he had two dunks in all of that footage and many times he had fairly open looks from nice post position, but finished really soft - he'll get hammered in real games and not make those lay ups. He needs to find some aggression in his game. It's nice that he can hit a jumper, but again when he gets the ball on the perimeter he brings it down like a guard and has a long motion getting into his shot - that won't work out so well in a real game or as Grateful Dawg alluded to against a team that can defend. I don't remember a rebound he grabbed in that video when a guy had a body on him. We need a 6 '11 guy who can bang on the inside - not another wannabe small forward.
