Okay, which one of you 6packers yelled "REALLY! REALLY! REALLY!" at the band on the final drive when they played "Eye of the Tiger" or some Rocky song. I really was not paying attention to what the band was playing at that point. Until I noticed the dude screaming all the way across the section at the Drum Major after they played that selection. I don't think anyone really had a clue what he was so upset about. Until the Drum Major rebutts, "oh yeah, well your football team is not to good either." At least that is what I think he said. If he did, he needs to be disciplined for making that comment. The fan was being an ***.....no doubt. But you don't say that **** wearing the schools uniform.

If it did, that drum major should be kicked out of the band.

Sadly, yes there was an exchange of words. Maybe a band member can post later what exactly was said. But that is what I heard. Maybe the DM thought the dude was an Arkansas fan. But unlikely, as the dude clearly had on a Maroon shirt and was in the State section.

In the band's defense, they did a hell of a job today. They played a lot and loudly with half their members. Their selections were timely and keep the State crowd involved.

I really post this more for a laugh. But damn.......talk about wrong thing to say. Maybe the dude was just embarrassed and went brain dead.

when I was in the band, our drum major and Brad Scott, the old South Carolina coach got into it- face to face.

What happened was I was standing on the sideline waiting for halftime, and we were too close to the bench for Scott's liking, so the ******* pushes down one of our female baritone players. She fell right by me, and I told Scott- "You could have said excuse me". And he called me a smartass. Then I laughed in his face.

And right at that point our drum major gets in his face and they start going at it. Scott finally walked off.

We beat their *** that day- the football team, of course, 37-17 or something like that.

when you have a lot of music majors, they usually don't give a crap about the game.

But, since MSU's band is mostly non-music majors, a lot of the people do it for the same reason I did- to go watch MSU play football for free. And because of that, we had a higher percentage of members that actually cared about the game than some of the other bands. So, when the team gets their *** beat in, we have a higher percentage of people in the band that get pissed off when we lose. That may have been one reason why the DM went off.

The other thing to remember to- when you're in the band going to a bowl game is a reward to. You get a free trip, and a fairly good amount of money, and you get to do some cool things. And since it's Christmas, you don't have to worry about tests and projects. I remember when I first got to State, you would hear some of the upper class band members talk about going to the Peach Bowl and things like that, and I always thought that would be a cool thing to be a part of. I remember 1997 and how much it hurt to not only lose to Ole Miss, but it hurt even worse when I found out that we weren't going to a bowl. That loss in 1997 was probably the worst MSU football loss that I have ever been a part of as far as stinging. I was very fortunate, though that I got to be a part of the band that went to the SEC Championship Game as well as the Cotton Bowl and Peach Bowl. I'll tell you- the 1998 and 1999 Egg Bowl wins were really, really sweet, and made up for 1997.

But, I say that to say this- the band members know the bowl situation that the team is in and they knew we had to win out to go. I know it sucks when you are eliminated, and especially if you're a senior. The band trips and the bowls are the highlight of being in band, for sure.

When you meant, "You're a horrible chest-beating failure of a football coach, and now you're a horrible chest-beating failure who hits women." I'm guessing.

The drum major replied to the ******* "because we're on TV, dumbass" And the band would never play Eye of the Tiger.

but I have enough sense to know that if I had gotten into a fistfight with the head football coach of South Carolina, I might have to deal with some pretty big dudes with football equipment protecting them. I didn't like my odds.

I really wanted to call him a *****, because of all the guys that he could have pushed down, he chooses the one girl to push down.

because the South Carolina fanbase would have come running to your defense. Like, all of it.

The f'n band played THE FINAL COUNTDOWN as the clock was running down on an MSU loss.

THE FINAL COUNTDOWN?!?!?

Thank you MSU Drum Major Moron for the kick in the balls from my own damn band.

[Edit to say: Some of you need to go buy Monsters Of Rock and catch up on your crappy 80's music if you don't recognize The Final Countdown.]

the Olive Branch played that last night at the Madison Central game when they were down 54-20.

I thought it was pretty dumb last night to.
