Here's something I've been doing for a few years it definitely helps in the computer generated drafts-

You will field a better team if you move a couple of highly ranked TE, K, Def/SP into your top 35-45. Also, if your league plays two QBs you definetly want to move a significant amount (around 8) into your top 45, and also trickle in a few more receivers. The reason this makes you team better is that most of the top 100 are running backs (50+) and this probably plays out to be true at season's end. But while other folks are getting their 3rd and 4th running back you will be getting the top players at other positions that you will actually be able to play. I also believe there is more risk with the runningback position.

only 2 RB's made the top 22 in scoring (Westbrook and LT)...I will definitely be going QB and WR with my first 2 picks

Last season definitely gave us a new way to look at the draft. Several of the preseason top twenty did not put up big numbers this season. Did anybody draft Ryan Grant? Didn't think so. Also, speaking of Green Bay, a certain retiree may be a great pick, but if so, he'll be on a different team.

I'm pretty sure that Brady will go first in most leagues. But who knows, the Patriots may start to run it up the middle. I'm planning to pre-select five QB's, and the top one still left at my pick is who I'll probably take, unless there's just too big a difference between that QB and the top WR or RB left.

Good luck to all. That's what you'll really need.

your RB use to be your horse but now the coaches rotate them so much that it's not even worth it anymore. Normally you would always take a RB with the #1 pick but if I had the #1 pick, I'd definitely take Tom Brady first. The league has made it so that the passing game can flourish and it's still hard as ever to run the ball in the National Football League.

would prove you should go RB in the first. That's always been the theory in shying away from QBs in the first---sure they put up the biggest nos....but there are plenty of them that put up big nos. so the dropoff in waiting isn't that bad. However, the dropoff in waiting on an RB can really hurt. Hell, you can sustain a good team with a late waiver wire pick up of a QB. Air McNair led me to the playoffs 2 of the last 4 years.

There are only a handful of WR's that consistently get you points and fewer TE's. Running backs are much more predictable and therefore more valuable.

My philosophy is you can get a very good QB later in the draft, say round 5, but if Tom Brady or Peyton are sitting there in the first round go for it. For running backs, you're picking through the trash.

such as Brady and Manning (and most highly coveted players of other positions) is they tend to sit a lot in the last few games once the team has clinched. In other words, don't load up on players on teams expected to roll through their division.

I had P. Manning, Antonio Gates and W. Welker last year and I "won" the regular season, only to lose in my league's championship game because it coincided with the final game of the regular season. All the other decent players who were still playing were taken and I was stuck with K. Warner and a bunch of other worthless players... I was blown out and missed out on $150.

but the longer a league commisioner waits to do the playoff, the more likely that kind of stuff will happen. I'm not sure which week is the best to start the playoffs- 13?

much less a signifigant part of a game. My leagues that I am in have gone to having the Championship in Week 16 to help out on some of the benchings.

and you may be right....however, with most of the top RB's scoring in the 23-35 range in our league, I feel it a must to start QB-WR, because these are the guys that are going to produce the most points. Couple that with other league members going old school style and still taking RB's first, gives me more chances to get top scoring WR's.

I had the 8th pick last year and chose Maroney and Jones-Drew with the first two picks and basically gave myself no chance to win. I was able to waiver-wire myself to a 4th place finish thanks to Derek Anderson and Greg Jennings. Wont make that mistake again.

**edited to add**- we put a premium on the draft. We have a strict waiver-wire policy in which its done in order, every Thur, and you only get two options per week. If somebody gets your choices before it gets to you, you are SOL for that week. No last minute chances after Thursdays waiver wire.

where Tom Brady goes first, please invite me to join it. Extra money is a good thing.

Although QB is deeper, no running back, not even LT, is a sure thing. While not number 1, Brady is in the top ten on cheatsheets this season. It makes as much sense to pick him and go for workhorse RB's later as it does to pick Westbrook, Petterson, or LT and go for a workhorse QB later. Peterson will probably have another phenomenal season, but I do remember the nothing that Terrell Davis followed his amazing season in Denver with during the 90's.

There's no right answer till the champion is crowned. We'll all have to pick a strategy and play it hard. I've been known to kick some ***.

We ought to have a few no money board leagues. It'd be fun to find out who's lucky and good. I say no money because the logistics of exchanging it are a hassle and most of us are already playing in money leagues. Most people just gamble a little, not constantly.

your starters will probably be Selvin Young and Lendale White. Not good. If you pick LT, you are probably still going to end up with Brees. Which one is the bigger dropoff? And how on earth is LT not a sure thing?

Brady has about zero chance of matching those numbers. Manning had his record season and immediately came back down to earth.

do it, because when it snakes around there should still be a top 10-12 RB there. Otherwise, let some schmuck take Brady #2 in the first, and then have to wait till pick #23 to get his first running back - not good, as you say

and it cost me the playoffs. Neither of them did ****. The only reason I had a chance to make the playoffs in the last week is because Romo had a great year and I got Adrian Peterson later and he panned out. Some guy went Moss and Brady with his first two picks and he made it to the championship game.. he lost but still.

It might be fun to draft after week 1 of the regular season. It'd be interesting to see what everybody gets from a week of actual play. As it is, we're pretty much guessing and hoping. Star players have many disappointing fantasy weeks. Rookies and unknowns can have huge weeks. Making that weekly lineup in fantasy gets pretty intense. I almost quit; it somtimes seems like the pain and worry of coaching without the pay and benefits.
