This will affect NHL and NBA teams currently on FD Sports and the NBA is preparing for it to potentially happen in the middle of the season.

“…..
if the DAZN purchase does not close, Main Street will “wind down and dissolve” the FanDuel Sports Networks at the end of this year’s NBA and NHL regular seasons, though the NBA is seemingly preparing for a scenario in which the company could fold in the middle of this season. Should that occur, the league will step in and utilize its League Pass platform for the 13 teams currently airing on FanDuel Sports Networks. In this scenario, teams would need to scramble to ink linear distribution deals with local over-the-air affiliates in order to remain on traditional television platforms.

One NBA team executive called that scenario “our worst fear,” per SBJ.”

Sports would all be better off if we remove the cable TV paywall. Get rid of RSNs, move local games back to over the air, and supplement with low fee over the top streaming for people who don't have antennas.

Well, DAZN is probably low balling now that the cat is out of the bag. If they're not any regulatory objections, which I don't see any in the report, then it will probably go through.
DAZN is known for subscription bundles so it's likely that you'll have, single-team passes, league or multi-market bundles.Prices are a wildcard, but flexibility should improve.

I think this is probably what the Grizzlies are going to do.

It is absolutely ridiculous how badly regional sports access continues to be screwed up. They were first pulled from most cable providers due to cost, then Fox Sports folds, then Bally's folds, and now FanDuel is struggling. If this many providers are going under while charging $20/mo to subscribers, maybe the leagues/franchises can consider the possibility that they are charging a tad too much.

It should not be this difficult for someone that lives a couple hours away from their local team to watch their team. I can't wait for the NBA's stupid a$$ league pass network to take over so that I can be told that Grizz games are blacked out from my local area even though they're not shown on my local channels.

Like I’ve said many times before, MLB and the NBA kill their viewership with their ridiculous and archaic blackout rules especially on streaming services.

Yep. NFL not much better today. CBS in my area has the saints but jeopardy on fox. That's crazy when you got cowboys and others on at the same time. But yes mlb is terrible especially still getting blackouts when you subscribe to mlb tv. I'm paying a premium and still getting blackouts

That’s pretty much what’s happening here in DFW. They pretty much created a new local OTA network (KFAA 29-1) just for Mavs and Wings games and there’s a new OTT streamer called Victory+ for Rangers and Stars games. I think Victory+ was like $100 for the whole year.

Has anybody ever used DAZN? It is the most random collection of sports I’ve ever seen. If you want to see like… Qatari women’s snooker live at 3 am, that’s your app.

Just kind of crazy that DAZN is their lifeline.
