I don't post here very much but I do visit fairly regularly. I understand that this is a sports board and it's full of different personalities, opinions, etc. However, I hope that what we're reading about Coach Wilson's wife being harassed at the game is not true.
I've been a Bulldog since the early 70's (Saints too) and grew up in Alabama so I'm used to being on the receiving end of some wicked smack. It comes with the territory. I also am known to occasionally criticize our coaching even though I've never coached and haven't played football since 8th grade.

Being rude to a Coaches wife (or any female for that matter) is the most cowardly chickenshatted stunt that can happen in sports. For the ones that participated, think about who you are. The Bama teabaggers are chivalrous compared to you. You should be denied any further access to any Bulldog sports events. Go home and beat your kids.

If there's anyone on here that saw/heard any of this, I hope you went to the defense of the Lady(s). If not, then shame on you as well.

I'd rather go 0-forever than to be known as a school that harasses the wives of coaches. I've never been ashamed to be a Bulldog until now if this crap is true.

I sincerely hope these stories are either not true of have a different explanation to them.

The solution is pretty simple

Make the wives sit in the skybox. Right or wrong, fans are going to be fans and wives are going to be wives. Having the coaches wives out there sitting with the general public is inviting problems.

Obviously, the skybox is already there as an option and I'm not exactly sure why they have seats amongst the fans as well.

By no means do I condone fans' actions BUT there's 2 ways to look at it.

First let me say I hope this is an isolated incident if it really upset this coach's wife or any others. But let's really face it. If their skin is this thin at MSU, I can't imagine them sitting among the regular folk at Bama, Tenn, LSU. Dear Lord, can you imagine them sitting with the natives at Tiger Stadium? And this may come across the wrong way but those fans are footing the bill so that those wives don't have to work. $300,000 salaries or more come with a price one way or another. Again, it doesn't give them the right to say hurtful things and go too far with it but the fact remains. Those fans may have worked their asses off to afford a $75 ticket, gas, food, etc without a spouse making $300,000 a year. Again, not condoning their actions. Common courtesy should always be used when you KNOW who's sitting around you. Just putting some things in another perspective.

I agree, this is where they should be. If they don't want to sit in box seats, then they have to know they will be subject to this kind of junk. But really, how many fans would even know that they are coach's wives? I wouldn't know them if they ran over me in a car.

I don't know, if there is anybody in the stands that have the right to ***** about the coaching performance without worrying about offending the coaches wives, it seems like it would be the people that pay enough to be in the skyboxes (or pay enough to get invited to the president's box).

Maybe we should stick the coaches' wives in the middle of the visiting section; I bet the A&M fans had lots of complimentary things to say about our defensive game plan. Also, they could have talked shopping and fashion with the A&M cheerleaders.

/but seriously, don't be mean to coaches' wives if they're pretty; if we ever try to bring Layla Kiffen here, I want her to hear good things about how the fans will treat her

WTH? The families shouldn't have to sit in skyboxes. They should be able to sit in the stands like the rest of us. What should happen and should've happened Saturday is the guy running his freaking mouth should've been escorted out by security. He should've been pointed out by fans sitting around his sorry *** and gone. These are our coaches families. Why give the wife grief? That is just low and uncalled for. I don't ever rememeber anyone doing that to Meo Stansbury and Lord knows she annoyed the Hell out of everyone with her "defense" but no one said anything to her even when the Hump was caving in. My last post on this was better but it musta been too much cause it ain't here anymore. First time ever had a post removed from the sixpack before I do believe.

While I get what you're saying, if you had a overcooked burger at Mugshots, and you knew Ron Savell's wife was at the next table, would you and your table heckle her until she cried? I get your point but human decency has to be apparent at some point

There are two sides to this from what I can tell...

Families should not sit with the fans. People can voice their opinion especially about a coach. I was dogging Wilson as well for staying in that 3 man front ad nauseum. It wasn't working and we never tried anything else from what I can tell.

But once you find out that a family of someone involved with the team is around you, you should probably shut your mouth.

Oh, I was yelling too. No doubt that Wilson's gameplan wasn't working. And the LB we had spying on Manzel was doing absolutely no good if he didn't ever get within 5 yards of him. And Jamerson Love, and....and.... But if you are sitting next to the coaches family, you still can yell out at him, but for God sakes, don't direct it toward the family and if you notice you are getting too obnoxious, shut your trap and don't make a fool of yourself. I'd be willing to bet that Mrs Wilson was probably thinking the same thing we were about the 3 man front. She may not have been cussing him like we were, but I bet she was wanting him to try something different too. Bottom line, be a fan, yell your *** off, but don't be a dick! Especially to the coaches or players families. They don't deserve the criticism.

not in this day and age. There is no human decency. We all have the right to make whomever feel like a piece of **** because it's apparantly our god given right.

What society has lost, and apparantly bulldog fans right along with it, is that just because you have the right to be the most miserable son of a ***** on the planet, DOESNT MEAN you should.

social media has numbed us to this idea. I pray for the day I hear a story about how those cowardly pussies who did this to ms wilson are drug out of the stadium and beaten until their mothers dont recognize them. Then taken to their mothers homes and shown what they've raised.

THEN, we'll know that there is decency. If either of my sons ever participated in this, and I dont care what age they were, I'd haul them into public, pull their pants down and strap their sorry asses until they bled. That is how I was raised, it's how I'd expect my kids to act.

I've been in this situation with my dad. He reminded me that we were sitting with coaches families and we should act as such. I was 28 at the time. Had I defied him, he'd have taken a belt to me. I'd have deserved it.

Phil, we arent ut or lsu or bama fans. We MUST have some line we will not cross. I HAVE to believe this is it.

If there are those of you without the common decency to separate what is decent from a football game go support something else.

I know this is kind of broader than the topic being discussed...but I have learned over the last couple of years as our fan base has grown(and I don't know if this correlates) but we have a lot of generally rude people in the stand at DWS. And specifically, are rude to fellow Bulldogs. Examples such as people bitching over seat space, or mistakenly touching someone, or even a proactive "I'm sorry" for something that falls on a deaf ear or gets a smart *** response. It's like when people enter the stadium courtesy goes out the window...and it comes from ALL age groups. With that being said, the coaching wife thing isn't surprising.

This kind of behavior you would expect from drunken cultureless OM fans, NOT MSU

Our coaches wives should feel comfortable sitting anywhere in the stadium. I have to believe that this story was exaggerated if there was in fact an MSU fan involved.

Whenever you put families in a situation where there is a high probability that they are going to hear something bad about their family member you are asking for trouble. What's the other option? Tell people to sit on their hands and not say anything? Realistically- that's not going to happen. And yes- I agree that the offenders were over the line in this case without a doubt- even saying the smallest thing like "I don't think Chris knows what he's doing" could hurt someone's feelings. So, why subject the coach's wives to that?

I actually don't understand why:

1. The wives don't want to sit in the skybox and want to sit amongst the fans.

2. Why they have two seats?

So turn a revenue producing skybox into a non-revenue producing safe haven for coaches' families?

Hmmm.

How about acting like an adult at the games?

I see what you are saying, but I believe that,
as a whole, fans are much better behaved than they were pre-1980. You used to see fights in the stands and drunks everywhere. The atmosphere is much more family-friendly now.

Yes, in my opinion it should be part of a package deal. If assistant coaches and their families are happy the potential for revenue goes much higher. A hc is no better than his assistants. He can't be everywhere

I have to ask ... how do we know they are the coaches' wives? I have no idea what they look like. Honestly, the only COACH I'd know if he happened to be sitting by me is Dan Mullen (would have known Manny), let alone their wives.

But even if the had not known they were wives, they shouldn't have been harassed when they left. Things get out of hand at games at times, especially when we are losing big. And there's always the influence of alcohol ....

This incident MUST've really happened. Tweeted Caleb an apology for these idiots and he Tweeted me back "thank you" and then RT'd the apology.

It really happened. I don't post ******** just to start some **** and I doubt Ozarka does either. Whether it was the candy man nerd or not, I agree that the fans that did it have a right to yell at the coaches all they want...but in this case they absolutely, positively knew the coaches wives were right in front of them. And they went over the top intentionally. The way I understand it is that the coaches wives do have a private place at Davis Wade to watch the game. However, if they want to take several friends with them, they have these seats to sit in with them. That's why they were seated there.
