Wanted to start a new Fantasy Football thread where we can hash out views and give each other advice. I'm in my first legitimate FF league this year. Of course I've played for a long time but this is the first year where the league I am in had an in person draft and they take it seriously and the draft was very intense. I'm gonna leave my roster and starters in bold for week 1 below so everyone can see. Please state the type of league you are (PPR...etc) in just so questions are easier to answer.

PPR League
QBs- Baker Mayfield
RBs- Josh Jacobs, James White, Nyheim Hines, Devin Singletary, Theo Riddick
WRs- DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Evans, Desean Jackson (Flex), Geronimo Allison, Marquise Brown, Mecole Hardman, Nelson Agholor
TEs- Eric Ebron
D/ST- Bills
K- Stephen Gostkowski

What is the format? How many teams? What positions play?
My league is a 14 team 16 player roster PPR league. We have a flex plus 2 WRs and 2 RBs. I didnt draft an extra QB or TE because you can replace both positions for their BYE weeks easily without much drop off

For a 14 team league, it's a decent looking roster.

-QB - Mayfield might be pretty good, but what if he gets hurt?....he is a mobile QB after all. I would really consider going ahead and getting another guy on the bench. Get a backup before someone else takes him. I recommend dropping Riddick to get him.........the Broncos just put him on IR.

-RB - I think Jacobs is a solid pick. White is decent. Singletary might be a great pick. But I think Hines' value tanked with Luck retiring. And Riddick is now on IR. I certainly don't think you should be in panic mode, but I'd be watching that waiver wire here a lot.

-WR - nice haul. Hopkins and Evans are going to propel your team nicely. And your other choices are decent......one could go off and give you a great flex option.

-TE - I was scared with Ebron even before Luck left. Doyle is back and I viewed Ebron as a one hit wonder. I'm really skeptical with Luck gone. I'd be watching the waiver wire.

Overall, looks good. Forge ahead.

I'm watching a few guys at TE and will make a move after the first weak if Ebron flops. I hopped into the draft late because a guy didn't enter the lobby so they gave me his team and ESPN picked a couple for me. I didn't want Ebron and it made me draft the bills D in the 7th and I still ended up fine. With baker we still have a couple of guys who I'm watching incase he gets hurt. I think I got a solid pick with Marquise Brown in like the last round or 2.

You definitely did well in the WR department. You might have too many mouths to feed......which means trade bait.......

If Jacobs turns out it should be a pretty good team. Mayfield has a ton of weapons, James White is a ppr stud, Hopkins and Evans are very nice...I agree with the dude above, if there’s only a few QBs left thatd you’d want to use, you may want to stash one. If they are all equal in your mind then no need.

Yea I believe they guys that are left are all decent enough but not good enough to stash. I'll pick them up on the BYE. It's guys like Carr, Jimmy G, Darnold, Mariota, Stafford, etc.... all guys I should be able to count on for one game. The TE spot is where it gets tricky because Witten is the best TE available and idk if hes worth snagging and taking up a spot for.

I traded Aaron Jones from Green Bay for Jacobs. It dropped my projected standing but I think I have a higher ceiling with Jacobs. What do you think? Craziest thing is I may have the best 2 man receiving core in the league and I'm projected to finish 10th out of 14. This league is intense lol. I need to get to 7 to make the wildcard.

I have Ertz but snagged Waller from Oak. Potential sleeper if he’s available.

I'll check walker out its a deep league so idk if someone already grabbed him. I waited late to get a TE because I just think after the first 2-3 theres so many guys who give you around the same production

Jones is a stud imo, BUT they love to go by committee in GB for some reason, so for that reason alone I don’t hate it.

Projections seem weird for week one so I wouldn’t judge it too much - my team is awesome for a 12 team ppr and I’m just slightly favored. You have solid player throughout and your worst spot is a spot where only a few guys separate themselves...no biggie.

First year in a half PPR league.. Im surprised to see so many people take rookies so early. I guess there's something I don't know.. but in fantasy basketball I never touch rookies (unless it's a UK one) until one of my last picks.. sometimes I even wait a few weeks to see how they play.

Rookies have a much different role in fantasy football

Rookie RBs can be money. Not as much with WRs and QBs. Rookie TEs rarely do well.

I'll trust yah. just seems crazy to take something unknown over something that is known.

HalfPPR, 10-team league:

QBs - Wilson and Lamar Jackson
WR - Thielen, Amari Cooper, Robbie Anderson, Jamison Crowder (I'm a Jets fan), D Pettis
TE - Kelce, Hooper, Kyle Rudolph
RB - Chubb, Michel, M. Ingram,
Def - Cleveland
K - Lutz

Def made some mistakes.. One too many TE/WR it seems. And forgot that Hunt is coming back which might screw with Chubb, my #1 pick.

Starting Week 1: Wilson, Thielen, Cooper, Kelce, Chubb, Michel, Ingram.

Question 1: Is Ingram the best player for my W/T/R position?
Question 2: Should I consider starting Lamar Jackson because he's going to run all over Miami?

I don’t need any lineup advice. Because my team is great and the rest of the teams in my league suck.

OK here we go. First opinion request.

Rogers @Chicago
Rivers vs Colts

I know Rogers is a stud and you always play studs, but @ Bears is a tough game.

How did you get Barkley and Chubb in a 16-team league?

We break up the 16 teams in to 2 Conferences and have 2 drafts (One for each conference), so there are only 8 people in my draft. The other 8 people have a separate draft (all players are available to draft). If I make the playoffs, it's possible that my opponent could have some of the same players that I do.

I was 1st overall pick (Barkley) and he (Chubb) was still available at pick 16 (Snake Draft).

Ohh ok.. didnt know it was split up in draft. I kind of drafted based on their ranking.. and Chubb fell to me at 7th.. but i just saw him for some league types as down to 15th.

Melvin Gordon. Keep him and hope for the best, or drop and get what I can (or pull a shady trade)?

A guy @work had the same question. Bears have maybe the best defense in the NFL. I like Rivers @home.

1. Idk really, maybe Chubb until Hunt comes back or Rudolph. I'd drop 2 TE's and pick up a couple 3rd down backs.
2. Bengals were the #32 ranked D last year. Wilson all the way but both Seattle and Baltimore love to run also.

Wait you think i should drop chubb once hunt comes back? I didnt realize the situation.. shouldnt chubb have been lower ranked than 7th if Hunt will be back? And i should be fine with only one TE?

Yeah realized how bad Cincy was.. lamar jackson MAY have a better day.. or he may whif big time. Not worth the risk. Ciara's husband it is.

No. Maybe Chubb or Michel as a flex until then. By November, you will know who starts at RB between Chubb, Michel and Ingram.

Yes. Unless Kelce gets hurt.

Cohen was as advertised. You watch the game and think he did nothing then look at the scores and he ends up with 13 as a flex. Our league gives points for return yards also. So he got 8 points for 8 receptions, 4 points for 49 yards receiving and 1 point for 36 return yards (1 pt. every 25 yards).

I have both Lamar Jackson and Russ Wilson for QB.

Lamar has been killing it for me, but I suspect teams will continue to scout him more, plus he's @KC (KC's first home game). Wilson, meanwhile, gets a Saints team without Brees which should mean a ton more opportunities for him. Plus NO is traveling across the US to Seattle.

Am I crazy to start Wilson over Jackson this week.

Good problem to have. I'd stick with Jackson until he gets humbled. The Saints have given up only 17 more points to QB's than the Chiefs in our league.

I'm 1-1 so far but could easily be 2-0 if I started the right guys.

Thanks for the tip. I feel like he's due to fall down to earth, but I'll ride with him for now.

I made some really smart moves, pretty proud of myself:

-- Grabbed Scary Terry McLaurin, and he's basically a reserve for me until someone better gets injured
-- Dropped Cleveland D for Dallas D because Miami is historically bad.

Will Lutz bailed me out week 1, and I'm 2-0, sole first place to start.

Another question. With my team sitting pretty nice right now (week 3 opponent has injuries, Brady and Antonio Brown).. Should I grab Kareem Hunt? No one drafted him and I currently have Nick Chubb.

I have Dante Pettis still, who is worthless. Why not drop him, stash Kareem Hunt for when he comes back, when he plays an easy schedule. He could be trade bait for an injured squad, or I could hedge my bets if Nick Chubb gets less touches.

If nothing else, he just sits on the bench until playoffs.

Yes, pettis will never be a starter, even on bye weeks. You are dropping a average player for a chance at a elite RB. If it pans out, Hunt is a must start, Pettis never will be, the risk is definitely worth the reward. WR's are a dime a dozen.

Also.. 3-0, sitting nice. I need to think playoffs at this point as some of these mouth breathers can't field a team. Might have to grab Hunt.

..or package Wilson/Jackson and Chubb, as Chubb is going to lose reps down the stretch?

Jesus. Yes Hunt will be back and have fresh legs halfway through the season so he’ll probably get most of Chubbs carries. He’s also better than Chubb.

Who splits a draft? That’s weird you can have the same players play each other. The fact that no one has Hunt tells me enough about your league. I drafted Hunt knowing he’d be the Flex in my second half of the season.

You’re fine with one TE. When he’s on Bye just stream someone else for one week. It’s basically Kelce or you get 4-8 points from a TE anyway.
