Farve calling it quits..........Again..

People loved watching him play. This dumb *%@$%%! saga that has been going on was just drama catered to boosting up ratings. People say they are sick of it just to complain because it's "easy". If you do not want to see Favre throw another touchdown pass then either you are not a true football fan, or a Bears fan.
********. When WJTV became home of the Jets last year, I didn't watch a single game. Brett Favra is/was a Packer. Last year he was just a old QB that couldn't stand being out of the spotlight. He's held the league and 2 different teams hostage for 2 offseasons now. Maybe now he can get reacquainted with his tractor and go mow some grass.
I live in the town where the Viking hold training camp as of matter of fact I live about four blocks from the training facility held on the campus of Minnesota State University. I was gearing up for the circus that was going to be Favre-O-Manis. Now I'm kind of glad it is all over. Sure , with 100% commitment, I think the Vikes would be a large favorite going into camp to at the very least get to the Super Bowl. But if it took calls from players reaching out to Favre for him to even consider coming back then I say they would be better off with T-Jax.
I was actually looking forward to tomorrow mornign when I was supposed to be doing a faux Favre interview on a local radio station. It was coordinated through one of the bars here in town and since I'm the "lone southerner" in this palce I was asked if I would pretend to be Favre as listeners would call in and ask me/favre questions.
Anyway , it's bad for the town losing out on revenues that would have been generated for the simple fact the Favre circus was in town , but in the long run the Vikes can get back to concentrating on the season and getting Percy Harvin signed......next up VICK

Favre is a three time MVP (One of only two ever), a super bowl champion (been twice), holds just about every record known to man (including interceptions) and you don't like the guy because he is a redneck?
I know your dignity has already been lost into the world of internet message boards, but you have to respect the guy for keeping his dignity and staying retired. He wanted nothing to do with all the ******** that the media was making out of this. He earned the right to take his time in choosing whether to retire or not, and that he did. All the guy wants to do is play football and most people with any sense wanted him to come back to see him play just one more year.

You have to respect the guy for making the right decision and not getting into the season only to figure out he could not finish it. If you and other people let ******** like that get in the way of the career that he has had, you are doing a DIS-service to the game of football. What I am going to remember about him is that he is one of the greatest and holds more positive records than any other quarterback to ever play the game. It just shows how fickle you are Coach.
Farve was a great QB. The key word there = "was". Farve was getting old and his numbers were declining. He managed to have a pretty good 2007 regular season and then called it quits. He made the right move. Well Farve, like a lot of old football stars, had a hard time letting go. People gave the Packers crap for the way they handled the situation but I didn't. I applaud the way they handled it. They absolutely did the right thing. The Jets got Farve and sent Pennington packing. Well, he totally tanks in the second half, showing that he should've stayed retired and that his body is done. I mean, the guy was 39 years old trying to play QB in the NFL. Well, he proceeds to put the Jets and the Vikings through a huge offseason drama, leaving the Vikings high and dry a month before the season.
Well, that's all ok because the guy had a great career. I mean, who cares how he handles things now? He's got numbers, he can jerk all these teams around as much as he wants. Look, the guy was a great player. But, his career is over. He needs to accept that and move on. He's made a buttload of money, he has set records, and he has a SB ring. Go ride off into the sunset and quit acting like a spoiled kid. Part of being a grown up is acting like one. That means accepting change when it comes and acting responsibly with regards to your employer.

Other players had this problem too. Jerry Rice did as well. The way he handled the whole situation the last two offseasons is ridiculous and irresponsible, not to mention unprofessional.
........... it's not like he's a 65 yr old hanging on to his job for dear life. In many professions, your most knowledgeable and best employees are late 40s and early 50s. It would've be extremely difficult for me to take being told I was too old at 39. I don't blame any athlete for trying to extend their career - they are ususally young men, like Farve, when their skills diminish. That's got to be hard to take.
I didn't blame Farve for wanting to hang on and even pointed out that others had too. What I blame on Farve is his handling of the situation. He yanked organizations around and acted highly irresponsibly. He handled it like a kid.</p>
Making a snap decision and then regreting it would be irresponsible. Taking a long time and then saying no seems to be the more mature way of doing things. Now, if he up and signs with somebody else, then I'll agree with you. Finally, the Vikings could've called his bluff and said make a decision, but they didn't - that's on them.
The Vikings are the ones that gave him all this time to figure out whether or not he was ready to play. HIS employer set a deadline and he let them know before the deadline. I don't see anything childish about that at all. Did you want him to get on his knees for them?
camp out while he worked out in the summer, he didnt ask them to constantly report on this for 2 years. I assure you they would have left it alone if people didnt tune in.
