Wouldn't you want to have surgery for quality of life, even if retiring? Maybe the timing would need to come sooner if coming back, but why would you not have surgery? Heal on it's own?

to have a tendon reattached to the main bone or something like that, but I haven't had it done. Doctor told me if I kept playing competitive sports I needed to get it done but since I don't I haven't gotten it, and almost never notice it.
