FSU didn't maximize the uptempo. People will run it until there's no longer perceived advantage to it.
I've been in favor of pointing out the inconsistencies in the strategy and place in the game. These people who run it in the spread would hate it if teams started running uptempo wishbone and make the same guys take a pounding down the field.
Also, I'd exploit the lack of sportsmanship in the move. I wished coaches taught that - against teams that try to exploit the uptempo offenses - the defender wraps up and takes the ball-carrier to the ground and doesn't let go until the ref makes him. A defense holding the ball for longer is tantamount to an offense resetting the ball faster.
