An earlier thread got me to wondering. With me it has always been basketball. All the way back to the Jeff Malone days.

Only played one year in hs (all 120 pounds of me) almost got killed but had fun. Played basketball 4 years, had fun, but just don't enjoy watching it. Baseball is terrible. All I could do was run - couldnt' hit, catch, field or throw and was ball shy to beat hell. Hit a high hopper at me and watch me bail out. Needless to say don't watch it either.

Ok I grew up during the Sherrill years so I got to experience some good football in those days. Basketball has always been great as well. Baseball is a great MSU tradition but I have just never really cared for sitting through baseball games. Don't really keep up with the other sports...

But some of the best games I've ever been to were basketball games. The Timmy Bowers game at Alabama was by far the greatest game I've ever been to.

Why the hell can't we get a men's soccer team?? It's beyond ridiculous. Men's soccer would really be a great addition to MSU sports. Maybe now that LT is gone Byrne will start a men's soccer team. I know LT was a big puss and didn't want to spend the money on creating a new woman's sport, but now that we have a badass AD, I think we should get the ball rolling again to get men's soccer back on the agenda.

since the 80's when Rocky went south and Polk was going up. If Mullen is a consistent winner then it could go back to being a toss up.

The only SEC schools that even have men's soccer are South Carolina and Kentucky. And they play in CUSA for men's soccer. Even if we were going to start a new men's sport, I would think it would be one that the rest of the conference plays. In a perfect world, all SEC schools would play men's soccer. But in the real world, I don't see that happening any time soon.

because when we win its amazing. But baseball is close 2nd at state. Super Regionals against Clemson a couple of years ago reminded just why State baseball is what it is.

I really thought basketball would rank higher. If Cohen gets us back to the old days then I will probably change my vote to baseball from basketball as well.

better than the lounge??? Until football actually gives me something to talk about around my longhorn friends down here... I'm sticking with baseball. The trip up to Baylor to see the diamond dawgs dominate was awesome!

It's great sitting in LFL and heckling the left fielder. We usually make friends with the kid by the end of the game and offer him a hot dog or something. You just don't get to interact with the players in the other sports like that.

The beer is a big plus too...

As bad as we've been in football, it still rules in the south. Hopefully Mullen will add some life on the field.

it's more of a family thing for me. We used to go as a family to one baseball weekend a year- usually LSU or someone like that. My Mom would embarass me and my brother by trying to bring an ice chest in to the grandstand area, and they never would let her do it. Like they forgot to put concession stands in at Dudy-Noble or something. So, she always had to stuff all these baloney sandwiches and drinks into her purse.

My Dad used to always take me and some of my friends from school to the then Mayor's Cup in Jackson- I've been to everyone since 1985. Made for some long nights when I was in college at State, but I made it.

The Regionals are unbelieveable. No one does it better than MSU. You also have the greats like the Palmeiro's, the Clarks, the Papelbon's, and then you also have the guys like the Rusty Thom's, the Pete Young's, that everyone likes.

Everything about it- The Championships, The Lounge, the Diamond Girls, the great coaches- MSU baseball is just special. It's a great family and I don't know of any college baseball program that is like MSU with everything combined.
We only lack one thing, but I'm hopeful that Coach Cohen can bring it to us.

Football is King,
Basketball is second, and just ask ESPN.
Baseball... you almost can't find college baseball on tv when you want to (no $ in it)...sometimes hard time find a score.

Oh yeah, I forgot we're Miss State.
