I thought about asking them if they knew the difference and just figured whats the point. Because no matter if you clearly point it out they'll still say thtas not true. It's like saying the sky is blue and them saying no its purple- you can point to it being blue and they'll still say its purple.

That's true but they have honestly showed how truly blind and stupid they are with that whole thread... Like they have no clue about anything apparently

Question. Do you guys think the posters over at THR are just messing with us to get a reaction with some of that twilight zone stuff they put up or do you guys think some of them are in the twilight zone or in a special place. OFC

It reflects a long history of their sports programs pandering to the most ignorant residents of the state of NC. These folks piggyback on a history of success instead of working on self-betterment.

Second, the minimum standard for in-state acceptance is also waaaay lower than out-of-state. This makes some of the "less talented" in-staters feel like they are just as accomplished as some of their fellow alumni. That sense of self importance paired with their natural ignorance is what we see from some of the louder posters there.

Denver do you an ego problem? I don't think you ever read Dale Carnegie's book titled "How to Win Friends and Influence People". As a lifetime resident of NC I take offence with you lumping all North Carolinians in the same mix. I assume you must feel we are all pretty substandard to your thinking as it does seem to define how you must think of many of your fellow DI posters. I assume you feel we also have a larger than usual level of self importance. We have many Duke fans who are from NC so I am assuming you feel the same way about each one. I will agree with you that many of the UNC fans are full of natural ignorance bred from a long tradition of UNC basketball success but you should give your statements more thought in the future where others might be offended. Apologies shall be accepted and appreciated.

Boogie is a rock star over there. They ask him a question, he answers, they don't like it and simply say he is burying himself further. It's magical.

I fail to see how Denver's post insulted all NC residents. He was speaking of particular residents that UNCheat plays to. I would think if he thought that of all NC residents, he would have said "all NC residents". Seems like you'd only be insulted if you are the ignorant type that UNCheat panders to, which he never expressed that anyone here is, and rightfully so.

I live in NC and out of my graduating class 3 went to UNC and all three were top 10 in my class. I have a cousin who graduated a few years after me was valedictorian and was the only person In her class that went to UNC. Of all the people that are in-state that I knew that went there ALL were top 10 in class or athletes... So I'm not sure about the amount of "ignorant" in staters that go there at least not from who I've seen first handed. Most of the people I graduated with though stayed local for school with actually quite a few going to state

I actually think they're that dumb. That sounds harsh, but it's the only plausible explanation.

And you would get banned for telling them the sky is blue and not purple. Tim I don't know if you are banned from posting there or not but if one of the mods read your post you may have just been tomb stoned

Certainly it's not an ego problem with me, as my whole family is from South Carolina, which if anything, is the Barney to your Andy.

NC residents on the whole are a relatively great bunch, certainly better than what I've seen out of some other regions (looking at you New Jersey), so I apologize for leading you to think I hold NC-ians in low regard.

Also, UNC students are of high quality, just check the rankings, but there are a very visible group of "connected" NC residents that get accepted there to maintain the minimum in-state proportions. These folks simply do not reflect the majority academically. These folks often puff their chests about their achievement of graduating with easy degrees from UNC and point to their school rankings, while in reality, they are standing on the shoulders of the better students. I just see a lot of UNC grads patting themselves on the back in general. Duke undergrads aren't as bad about this. Duke Law or Med... maybe.

I'm overgeneralizing like crazy in this thread, but it's fun. I know some very "average" students that went to Chapel Hill. Can't say the same for Duke.

Also, some top 10 GPAs at my public school weren't very bright. They took easy classes and worked hard, but lacked creativity and were just playing the system.

Denver I likely overreacted as I have been doing that lately, and sorry to take it the wrong way. I really do not even think of Duke or UNC fans as being graduates of either school, particularly on forum boards and especially UNC. I do know two Morehead Scholarship recipients from UNC and they are nothing like some on THR as they have pretty good reasoning ability but I would agree that Dukie grads are much brighter.

No worries. My days of getting worked up on message boards are long gone. The worst I'd do is disagree with someone. I don't mind a little fire from someone defending their home state from gross generalizations.

I was born and raised in NJ and demand an immediate hand-written apology! BTW, the throng of protestors should be arriving at your home early this afternoon.
Another Jersey boy here, but one who likes the fact that the Garden State is often given a bad rap. Keeps away the immigrants.

Just to make sure I piss off more people, Ohio has everyone beat. They suck, LOL.

Will, I feel the same way about South Carolina. I'm sort of OK with the fact that many think it's a hell hole full of racists and mouth breathers. All you yankees can flood to Myrtle Beach and Charleston, leaving us the rest of the state to play golf in and be happy with our simple freedoms: no traffic, fried food and southern belles.

One would have to think a few THR posters are just sitting back, shaking their heads and won't post anything to avoid conflict, right? There has to at least be a few sensible one's in the bunch who clearly can see there's a substantial difference, don't you think? Or am I just giving them the benefit of the doubt? I truly think Steat and DSouthr believe every word they type....but they're not exactly the sensible wing of the fanbase either.

They legitimately don't know what the difference is between the term paper classes vs. online classes. They're also stupid enough to equate online courses to making up an entire major. Do they honestly, truly believe that Giles or Duke would put themselves willingly in a position that would jeopardize his eligibility? i mean SERIOUSLY?

They just think the NCAA turns a blind eye to K. That's their reasoning.

For all of their history, wins, championships, etc., I've never seen a more paranoid fanbase. Whether it's UK, Duke, State or even Kansas, they can't handle/accept others having success whatsoever without somehow attributing it to something dirty.

Steat might be playing mind games with you a little....but I assure you from past experience that DSouthr is just that stupid. And he's kind of looked at as the leader over there....so there's that.

I've been saying ever since I came on this board that UNC nation as a whole just can't deal with the success of duke's program ever since Coach K came to Duke. t was the same way with the success of Bubas and Foster. And for you guys that are too young it's not only successful Duke coaches that draw the ire of Tar Heel fans. Successful coaches who competed with Dean Smith like Lefty Dreisell, Norm Sloan, Frank McQuire while he was at South Carolina even after leading the Tar Heels to their 1st. NCAA championship became the coach of the evil cheap shot thugs of the Game Cocks. And even Terry Holland who had minimal success against Dean Smith brought their wrath Holland even named his dog after Dean because he cries so much. One of my best memories of the 1976 ACC tourney was watching UVA take down the mighty Tar Heels and hearing WALLY WALKER from the announcers as he burned the Heels from the outside. I telling you guys if Joel Osteen gave up his ministry to coach Duke he would be just as evil as Coach K in UNC nations eyes. You can count on it. You see it really doesn't matter who the coach or team is if that coach or team whips UNC on a consistent basis then they are a bunch of thugs and cheaters. UVA fans and Tony Bennett look out. You're next. It just comes down to this. They are entitled and anyone that has the nerve to challenge them will be low life to them. It just so happens that Coach K gets most of the grief simply because e replaced Dean Smith as the greatest of all time and has won as many NCAA championships himself as McQuire, Smith and Williams together. It just eats away at them. This is the reason there are the way they are. They can't help it. They are Tar Heel fans. It's their nature. Bless their hearts. Another notch on my Tomb Stone I hope to be proud of. OFC

Boogie when you and Crank and dbav go over there you must know you're fighting a losing battle and we all feel for you. Personally I don't see why you talk to the stupids because you are not going to ever hear them say "you know what Booggieman, Crank and dab, you are right!

However, when you do go there to defend Duke you are men amongst idiots.
