Don't over think it and don't put Allen, the Academic AA in the same breath as someone like McCants. Allen had two arguable incidents he'd like to have back that were in the heat of the game. Not saying that we condone them, but if he wasn't at Duke, it wouldn't have been so completely blown out of proportion the way that it was and that is a fact. From the fan base that supported McCants. Of course they would support Allen. Sure, he messed up. He is a human being. However if they took the time to get to know the person that Allen is, which they would if he was a member of their program. They would realize that he is a good kid.
I am one of those who disagree. I didn't say anything because I just wasn't in the mood to fight with him and his followers. That way of thinking has grown tiresome. There are several others that fell the same way, but just stay away from THR because of having to deal with those fights. There are better boards on our site to discuss basketball. Most disagree. Many were afraid to say anything at first because if you criticize Gary, his attack dogs come running.
Bingo. Honestly, Chris Paul got less coverage when he punched Julius Hodge in the nuts.Allen had two arguable incidents he'd like to have back that were in the heat of the game. @TPFKAPFS discussing whether UNC fans would like Grayson if he were a Tar Heel:
I see no reason to think we would like Grayson if he played for us. The only chance this might be so is if his game and personality would be vastly different in our much classier environment.
Good lord.

that may be the stupidest thing he has ever posted. Did K tell Lebron, Russ, Curry etc. not to show up? that he preferred guys like Paul George, Barnes and Klay because they have no experience? Like what the hell is he even implying here? What a moron. Trying to make a correlation there is so far fetched it's not even funny.@DSouthr on why Team USA has had three close games in a row:
There is a correlation in my opinion, the coach that has embraced the one & done in college embraces a similar all star out talent the opposition method with team USA. I think the question becomes just how much does the experienced team need to be out talented before they can be competitive? How far does the talent gap have to be?
He must not have watched Team USA play since 1992. The roster we now have is typical of literally every team we have had since then.
The supremely ironic part in all of this is that Coach K was actually the one behind having players make a commitment to Team USA beyond a single Olympic cycle in order to be considered for a roster spot so that the team could have more continuity. Such facts are lost upon fools like DSouthr.that may be the stupidest thing he has ever posted. I actually just read the entire post, not just the part you selected. And to quote dumb and dumber, "just when I thought you couldn't be any dumber, you go and do something like this."The supremely ironic part in all of this is that Coach K was actually the one behind having players make a commitment to Team USA beyond a single Olympic cycle in order to be considered for a roster spot so that the team could have more continuity. "Some UNC fans don't even know thatMaryland is no longer part ofthe ACC."
Ha haa, hilarious. And Duke is in some top 25 lists, huh? You don't say.....lol.
Word has leaked out that kennedy meeks is feeling kind of spry and could be very dangerous when he's playing above the rim. Sounds like he's going to be a better kennedy meeks as a senior than kennedy meeks was as a freshman. How scary is that gonna be. Stay out of his way Duke bigs. He's gonna hurt some people when he's feeling spy above that rim. Also I see that big luke maye may be filling it up big time from the stretch position. That's all we need is a 6'8" mobile monster knocking in 25 footers. And we thought berry and jackson were gonna give us nightmares. OFC
Since Meeks would have kept Oakor on the bench it is hard to believe that he could get any better but who could doubt Gary or his insidersSky, I want to see the new and improved Air Meeks. I remember a couple of years ago when they had a video of him doing a 'windmill' dunk in practice...and it was pretty generous to call it such a thing.
Meeks can dunk, and he can get his hand above the rim, but equating that to playing above the rim...that's a stretch. And if I'm not mistaken, that playing above the rim stuff is coming from the coaching mafia, intel master himself...Gary-7. I'll have to see it myself before I believe it.

If you were Unc fan wouldn't you want it to still be 2000 before the Carolina Way was exposed as a sham@IDUNK4HEELS on how he would fix Team USA:
Who would I take out well that it very simple answer and it would be Kevin Garnett. Look at Garnett scoring and rebounding in the last couple of games and you will see the same stats I see.
He must have been watching replays of the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney, because that was the last time Garnett was on Team USA.

Now I realize, a guy like gary gets heat for what he says at times but I listen to what gary brings because he has ties in the AAU circles and there are times you get more accurate information there than you are going to get anywhere else and at times you can get a look that Roy doesn't even get.

How can anyone "get a look that Roy doesn't even get" when everybody knows Roy is outworking everybody out there?!?!Wow. Sweet Jesus.... THR is it's own little cult.
How can anyone "get a look that Roy doesn't even get" when everybody knows Roy is outworking everybody out there?!?!
Sorry, but I'm going to say Kobe, Lebron, Melo, Durant, Wade, Bosh, etc. had "a lot to do with it." And if we're talking off the court, I'm giving Jerry Colangelo more credit than K also.
Agreed. Is it an unfair recruiting advantage? Absolutely. Can you blame him for taking advantage of it? No.
But let's not quote the records/medals as some sort of proof that he deserves the job. If anyone thinks that me, you, or anyone else on this board couldn't have coached this team to a Gold... you're sadly mistaken. A basketball could coach this team to a Gold.
A monkey can coach this team, and his prior 2 teams and win gold. I mean seriously?
The fools keep moving the goalposts. It's so predictable.so which is it? Anyone (including a basketball and a monkey) can coach all 3 of those teams to gold OR it's K's fault that team USA (who still hasn't lost) is only barely beating teams?
If those guys want to take what gary says as good info, they do so at their own peril. The guy knows nothing and if he does have sources, maybe he should even be questioning them. The UNC site has great sources, working for them, that is where those folks should be focusing on. It starts with Clint Jackson.Courtesy of @DSouthr:

I wonder what Clint honestly thinks of THR, Gary in particular. Would be interesting to hear his opinion. If those guys want to take what gary says as good info, they do so at their own peril. Clint would welcome his info if it was legit. There is a good reason Clint has not enlisted gary for info. Unlike on our premium side of things, we have a half dozen "regular" folks who have really good info and Clint stands behind them and their info.I wonder what Clint honestly thinks of THR, Gary in particular. Indeed, and THR shouted down @Coach325 when he tried to share some knowledge with them. Very telling that Gary has more credibility than someone who actually knows what he's talking about.we have a half dozen "regular" folks who have really good info and Clint stands behind them and their info.
So I just ventured over there and noticed the thread about blaming the coaching staff (read: coach K) for the lackluster play of the USA team so I decided to take a quick glance at an earlier thread regarding the USA team and here are some quotes:
so which is it? Anyone (including a basketball and a monkey) can coach all 3 of those teams to gold OR it's K's fault that team USA (who still hasn't lost) is only barely beating teams?
Gary's the biggest troll on THR: he's never right and yet people still listen to him. I would ban him just so that he doesn't get peoples' hopes up over there
