Haha i think GSD came in and said every word of Steat's post was true. I guess b/c Steat says it makes it true.

Remember Jerry, it's not a LIE if you believe it!

And that's the thing....they make up truths.

1) The only reason K does halftime interviews during the NCAA Tournament is because it's required by the NCAA. There's no other reason. He hates doing them and has stated such. He's never, ever dodged them in the NCAA Tournament.

2) Also, K has never missed a postgame presser in the NCAA Tournament because he was sick. It's just a straight-up lie. I believe the game was against Wake Forest two years ago where he didn't go to the postgame conference because he wasn't feeling well. Somehow....surprise, surprise....a UNC fan has gone and made up a (another) lie to make the story sound better from their perspective. Bravo.

Right- which is why it's so hilarious. Like you are just flat out making things up and passing them off as truths (should be a politician). BUT, that doesnt actually make them true- sorry GSD, Chapleheeled, DSouth etc. You can't just wish history was different and make it so. But i guess that's why UNC is the joke it is right now.

Sometimes I wonder if they put some of those quotes up just to see how we react to them. They are so far off base that one would think it's a bunch of little kids but in reality they are Tar Heel fans. They can't help it. It's their nature. Bless their hearts. OFC

Wow. Haven't been over there in a long time. That's absolute nuthouse material. Man, a bunch of you guys went over there and really worked them, kinda fun to read. But also a bit perplexing how some of you seemed to be expecting real answers to some of those questions from DSouthr, STEAT , Gary and GSD. I liked STEAT noticing K didn't talk after a loss in the NCAA Tourney this year. Quite an observation. Seriously though, their arguements are so weak on K issues it honestly makes you laugh at them.

Haha,,,those guys hatred for K is so strong they can't even make a coherent argument. I just wish I had a cut of the profits of all the blood pressure medications those guys need because of K.

I'm still enforcing my self ban. It's more fun to read their crap over here. Thanks for doing the dirty work fellas. You can bet they are reading our commentary and storing up more hate for the next time they beat us. This board will be awash with their minions of hate. I can't wait.

Now dsouth is playing dumb. He just asked "what it means to prep assistants for a future gig" in response to K letting his top assistants make decisions in game..

Steat being Steat:

"it's true that K went nuts when Barnes announced for the Heels"

If by nuts, you mean won the national title, then ok.
Well if being honest that is somewhat true. Without going into too much detail, there were a couple other folks that REALLY went nuts in that room when HB spurned us. Long story short, when you leave the IN-Home and the recruit says, "Coach save #40 for me," you can reasonably assume that you have said recruit. Didn't work out with that, but i'd say it worked out just fine for us.

Coach K certainly was not happy when Barnes announced for UNC. Why would he be? I would not have wanted to be around him for a while after that. Like a few of us have talked about before, the Barnes recruitment has led to ridiculous recruiting heights for Duke and UNC has suffered a bit in results and recruiting since then. I will take missing on Barnes to light a fire under K and do what he has done.

I think it's safe to say that K has been on a roll in recruiting after that Barnes decision so i think we can thank Roy and Barnes for lighting that fire.

Missing on Barnes turned out to be one of the greatest blessings in disguise we've seen in this program. Singler goes onto be MOP in the final 4, we win it all, Kyrie is the number one pick, we have recruiting prowess from then on out. I'll take it.

I don't think Duke fans can reasonably argue we weren't bitter toward Barnes, and in most cases, we still are to an extent. But since Barnes triggered for the Heels, this is what has happened.

-Duke wins the 2010 national championship less than five months later
-Kyrie becomes the #1 overall pick
-Duke has a 10-3 record head-to-head vs. the Heels
-Duke has won two national titles
-UNC hasn't returned to a Final Four since said announcement
-Duke's record in the NCAA Tournament is 17-4 during that span, with two first-round exits, mind you
-UNC has a record of 10-5 in the tournament, including missing the field altogether in 2010
-Duke has 10 first-round picks and two in the second-round....UNC has seven and one (with four of those seven coming in one year)

So, while yes, some of us still harbor resentment at Barnes, I think it's safe to say since his announcement for the Heels this has been a very one-sided rivalry. If pumping their chest about winning that recruitment makes them feel good (and btw, Barnes had a losing record against Duke while he was there) then have at it. The reason they're still happy about it is because it's really the last thing they've have go right against us. It says more about the state of their program when that's all they got.

That's not too shabby. Of course he should win...he's obsessed with winning. Such a nasty habit to have in a basketball coach.

It is wild to look back on now, because at the time it seemed like it could be catastrophic. UNC was coming off the 09 title, and Duke hadn't made it past the Sweet Sixteen since 04. They got Barnes, and it seemed they got the continued upper hand in the rivalry as well. But boy the tide shifted after that. Coach K's '86 seniors will always be his most important because they ushered in Duke basketball as we know it, but in hindsight that group of 2010 seniors should be looked at favorably. 2005-09 was a little bit of a drought by Duke standards, and they helped begin another "Golden Age," which we are still enjoying. They started on an 11-loss team that finished .500 in the ACC and lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, and finished as National Champions. I know there are other factors (Smith and Singler joining up, Coach K's USA profile, etc.), but that group was huge.

His last game in a UNC uniform was pitiful; fitting end given his recruiting announcement and how well he handled that...
I had never been so happy to watch someone struggle so much. Turnover after turnover. Proved that his handle was subpar and lacked the ability to get his own shot.

Archer in reference to the Giles recruitment:
Exactly. Does he go with his heart(Wake or UNC) or does he go with his head(the new OADU)? Would love to have him but won't lose any sleep either way.

So now he knows what is in his heart but yet he doesn't care one way or another. Interesting logic.

I know it's been stated by many but my gosh I love this thread! So archer thinks it's impossible for someone to wanna go to Duke by following their heart? Interesting. Also it's kinda funny how since wake really isn't a "threat" like we are they are likable by cryolina when it's also a private high academic school in NC. Really comical actually

Got to love how UNC is thrown in there with Wake. I have no doubt that Giles likes Wake but UNC? LOL...

"K and dook will always just be K and dook....they will never ever be UNC....and that my friends is what pisses them off to no end"

Newsflash, none of us want Duke to be like UNC. We're pretty happy winning titles with the best coach in college basketball. Also, who would want the black eye of a 20+ year academic fraud hanging over their entire athletic program? Answer: nobody with a brain.

I enjoyed this one from TPFKAPFS....it's a gem.

"We came very close to getting to the FF last year with just a few things breaking our way and we have been derailed by injuries other years as well wherein we could have won it all."

That's the equivalent of me saying that had we beat Mercer in 2014 we would have been in the Final Four. Btw, every team deals with hardships and injuries. It's not uncommon.

Yeah, Mark....I don't get that one either. I fully understand UNC doesn't want to be Duke, but it works both ways. But then again, they think everyone clamors to be them....and then they have the audacity to suggest others are arrogant.

I'm not even sure it's equivalent. It might be a more absurd statement.

Good lord I can't wait to beat the cheaters two more times this year. Hopefully our football team takes back the Victory Bell as well.

I am kind of at a loss for words with this comment. What does it even mean? Are Duke fans really pining to be like UNC? I haven't see that in the 30+years I have been a Duke fan. Why is now any different?

i am perfectly happy with who Duke is and what they have accomplished. I have zero envy for the UNC program. I do respect their history and what they have accomplished, but wanting to be them? LOL, that has to be a joke right?
