Not hard to tell who typed this novel up....
We were loaded with one and diners last season? Guess I missed that.
"Jesus, boys--John Wooden couldn't have recruited against the effin 'death penalty' 'lack of institutional control' bogus violations that were effin plastered all over ESPY for the last 3 years--Roy has still managed to win ACC outright/Tourney...NCAA Title game finish--and a preseason Top 10 this year--it takes time after a scandal when other Universites can 'forecast' future consequences for their own recruiting advantages--I think Roy's done a great job of getting us back to the respect/reputation we deserve..so if you're not a true Tar Heel..sit down and shut the eff up--Roy's fought through rough allegations that have proven not be under his program--here's to the FUTURE of Carolina MBB because I think it's bright ! Go Heels!
It is funny how things change, prior to coming back to UNC and some could suggest even as far as thru the last Natty, Roy was known more as a recruiter than a great development guy or bench coach. And IMO, there was some merit in that, taken to far of course but having a great talent advantage can easily cause a coach to rely more on that talent than maybe coaching.
I have said many times, IMO Roy's greatest season as a coach was in that season after our last natty, the season that was so plagued by injuries. It was an amazing job just to keep us competitive. I honest believe the struggles we have had since that last natty have made Roy a better coach in every area outside of recruiting.
Now Roy just has not given up on his core beliefs and jumped on this one & done bandwagon and while some may prefer him to, I personally appreciate the tact Roy has taken. Folks like to say the game has changed, the game hasn't changed, tactics some coaches use to assemble their teams has but the game itself is still the same game.
This program has been hit with majors blows constantly since that last natty, under achieving highly rated players, deaths of Tar Heel legends, knuckle head players off court activities, and of course the NCAA. Larry Brown would have quit 3 times and be fired twice if he had to deal with what Roy has, so the fact that Roy has hung in thru all of this is testimony to the man that our head coach is.
And yet there we were, in the national title game last season, duke and Ky and their teams loaded with one & doners got to watch 2 teams that have not been the one & done destinations battled it out to the final buzzer in a thrilling if disappointing ending for our Heels. But we were there, those winning those mega recruiting battles were not, we were. Duke & Ky fans were united in rooting against us but that was all that was left to them, to root for someone else to do what they couldn't. I would MUCH rather my team be in the natty title game than root for some other team to take out a rival while my teams season was ended. And the coach that led us was the coach that they used to say could only recruit, well he has shown since our last natty that he can do a heck of a lot more than just recruit as in coach a team of B list recruits to the natty game.
Point is we can stress over recruiting, we can worry that we will get another group of B-list recruits while the A list go elsewhere. But Roy will develop them in to a nice team and those B-list guys we will get, have multiple shots at getting a natty ring, those one & doners will be lucky to a single shot."
