Brett Favre headed to Minnesota

Posted: Aug 18, 2009 9:35 AM CDT Updated: Aug 18, 2009 9:43 AM CDT

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Brett Favre boarded a plane today (Tuesday) at 9:10 a.m. at the Hattiesburg Laurel Regional Airport.

The plane's destination was St. Paul, Minnesota.

Sources said Favre boarded by himself and commented, "We may know something by dinner."

Rumors have been passed around in recent weeks that Favre, a former Green Bay Packers and New York Jets quarterback would join the Minnesota Vikings before the end of the preseason.

The Browns open for the regular season against the Vikings on Sept. 13.

As a fellow Mississippian its hard not to root for the guy but the way he's gone about his business is shameful. He used to be one of my favorite players with GB and now I can barely recall those days due to his egocentric BS. That said, the Vikings will be much better off now that defenses have to respect the pass.

I'll like watching him with all the Vikings weapons to see if he still has it. The whole circus has become comical to me versus detestable. Dude manipulated his way out of training camp in the dorms. Perfect.

and spend the least time with his teammates possible. He's going to do the Vikings just like he did the Jets. Cash their checks, alienate himself from his teammates, and put in mediocre performances. Sad thing is, for the Vikings at QB that will be a huge improvement over what they had.

If someone offered $12 million to you to do what you love, WTF! Why not, with the skill players they have, he might just have a grand old time plus stick it up GBay!

I think there are 2 reasons why he is doing this. 1. He wants to get back at the Packers front office very badly and 2. He loves the game and can't let it go. I don't think he's trying to make this a media circus, that's just the world we live in. They love the drama.

to pay you $12 million to avoid the dirty work of your job, alienate all your co-workers and then turn in mediocre performances, I assume you would, correct?

Its not like Favre made the Vikings sign him.

He could still be sitting at home if the Vikings wanted him to be.

Im not that invested in the Favre hatred, but a guy like Derrick Mason retired, and then came back, and it is no big deal. Boxers do it all the time. I just don't understand why Favre gets bashed for not being able to make up his mind, yet teams don't get bashed when they are the ones allowing him to dictate terms.

I never understood the criticism he got last year for wanting to play again. The packers didn't want him, but they didn't want him to play anywhere else, to me that is wrong on the Packers part.

I know one thing, Vikings/Packers just became must see TV.

They have 2 quarterbacks that suck. He didn't want to go to their camp, he told them no, he was not coming back. They stayed after him, he's now going and getting paid. I don't blame him.

Its on the Vikings for making a dumb decision.

I know everyone says he is a media *****, but to me a media ***** is T.O. or Ocho Cinco. I don't see Brett asking to be on TV, or giving interviews, he is simply a name that gives ratings.

Is that his fault? ESPN knows it can get better ratings by running Favre Watch 2009, but its not like Brett wants this crap, he wants to play football.

If he was starring in a reality show, I would agree with most, but the guy just seems like he can't decide if he wants to keep playing football. I guess that doesn't sound unreasonable to me.

If Smotlz retires during the season this year, and decides to give it another try next year, I don't have a problem with that. When Sandberg retired, and then came back, I didn't have a problem with it, so I don't have a problem with it now.

More than anything I like it, because it makes for good TV.

I can't wait for him to be Booed at Lambeau.

I used to be indifferent about him, but him taking up countless Sportscenter hours with this crap has made me loathe him. All he wants to do is watch himself on TV. I hope the Vikings go 0-16 and he throws 40 interceptions.

I already do that for less than 1% of what the Vikes will be paying Favre.

Not even a "flex" scheduling week for NBC. Vikes@Packers is scheduled for an afternoon FOX broadcast.
