Highly recommend going to a game for something to do this spring and summer.. Went to the home opener last night and even though it was crazy cold they had 15,000 there... Had great seats for $20 and had a great time.. Like I said, recommend it to anyone wanting something different to do

What I expect to see is Cincinnati will get a MLS expansion and Louisville FC will go away just like most minor league sports expect baseball in Louisville.
The people here in Louisville honestly believe they will get a franchise. I would be real surprised if it ever happens!

I know nothing about MLS but I doubt Louisville will lose its minor franchise. People seem to be pretty pumped about them, plus they are considering a nice stadium as part of urban renewal in Portland (near my warehouse, hence my interest).

Would guess, much like minor baseball, it's about the stadium and fan experience. Traveling to Cincy for MLS would be a small number IMO. Sure people roll up for the Reds but Bats games draw a ton.

Cincinnati is just so fortunate with their financial backing and having a guy like Harkes as the HC.. If FC Cincy was in the MLS they would be the fifth richest team... That's what happens when you get people like proctor and gamble on board... Louisville City needs to corner UPS. That's the level of sponsor you need for the MLS.. I don't think Louisville City is going anywhere... But it's going to take much longer for them to try and get I to the MLS than it will Cincinnati

The MLS loves the idea of regional rivalries... How cool would it be to have Louisville City, FC Cincinnati and Columbus Crew all here close.

The environment at that game was crazy last night.. 15,000 for a USL game is crazy.... And if it wasn't cold as hell they could have had 18 to 19000. It would be really interesting to see that place if Cincy makes the playoffs.... Nippert is really nice and I don't blame them for not wanting to move.

The MLS wants to get to 28 teams in the next 5 years.. They are at 20. LA is getting a second team, Atlanta is confirmed, Minnesota and Miami are also locks..... So that leaves 4 spots open... Vegas, Sacramento, San Antonio, St.. Louis and Cincinnati are the options.... As long as Cincy does what it needs to I think they have a spot.

It all comes down the rich family backing the team.

Done deal, imo.

<<< I also think they would benefit from a new stadium which could be dope as hell design-wise if they found the right people to do it.

FCC is owned primarily by the Carl Linder Family with their insurance companies & Scott Farmer the CEO of Cintas.

I watched own TV. What you say looked that way.

Biggest difference I thought I saw vs. higher competition was the lack of D. Much more open space to operate. Also, the skills of individual ball movement were lesser. But then that's what ought to be expected.

I would design something that really drew inspiration from the surrounding urban environment

Having said that, I would do a facade in American Foursquare-come-subdivided section 8 apartments revival style

I'm going to the game vs. Louisville FC next Saturday. I don't think Cincinnati is going to get a MLS franchise - they really value soccer-only stadiums and they don't have a plan for one. Nippert is great and could hold 40,000+ but MLS doesn't like those kinds of stadiums for some reason. The 2 teams with the highest attendance last year (NYCFC and Orlando) both played in temporary stadiums.

The MLS doesn't like it it when teams play in those stadiums and don't have control of the revenue that comes from every facet.. From what I understand they do at Nippert.. I don't blame Cincinnati for wanting to stay where they are.... It's a great facility that just underwent a big time renovation.

Well, I think Nippert (BTW, Nippert was the son of a Gamble daughter.) is temporary till FCC proves it can sustain say 25k/game for MLS.

Maybe I'm a pessimist but I don't think Cincinnati will get the next round of expansion. I just feel too many other teams will be ahead of it: Vegas, Sacramento, San Antonio, St Louis, Detroit, etc will be after Minneapolis, Miami, LA, and Atlanta. The Midwest still has a big hole in it but I'm afraid St Louis will fill it.

If they had a stadium deal in place, I don't see how they wouldn't be next in line. Would set up a nice rivalry with KC

I spoke to the ownership group, Berding, and Harkes about 6 months ago. They're certainly committed to doing whatever it takes to join the MLS.

I agree. Particularly with the Crew so near. Now maybe they can buy the Crew & move them. Otherwise, I'd guess they're down the list a fair amount. But only the thing is though, money talks.

To be fair Seattle and Portland are 2 hours away.. Seattle and Vancouver is a little over 2 hours away.. That's about the same distance as Cincy and Columbus.. As the MLS I would love the prospects of that rivalry. And I think the owners of Cincy are so hell bent on making the expansion they'll drop however much money it takes.. Combined I think they are worth like 5 billion or something like that...

The guy I was speaking with said if FC Cincinnati were in the MLS their operating income would rank top 5.... That's how much money they are sitting on.

The Vancouver, Portland, and Seattle corridor has close to 9 million people in it. Columbus to Cincinnati is 4ish.

Seattle to Portland and Seattle to Vancouver are also 3 hour (at *very* best) trips.

That comparison was not very apt

My agency is very involved with FC Cincinnati. I actually designed the TOYOTA portion of the jerseys and created a bunch of signage and videos throughout the stadium.

From the coach to the players, they are signing MLS talent on a USL team. They definitely have the MLS as a realistic goal.

15k on a ******, cold night for a team that nobody knows yet is fantastic.

Right now, the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky Toyota Dealers have the jersey rights and are a corporate sponsor. If the team continues to experience success at the gates, I could see corporate Toyota joining in.

I like the all-white roadies, too. The original design had the torso being blue.

I was glad to see Big Blue Sean gave back the banner he stole this morning. That could've been embarrassing.

Crap man! How did you know?!

I love the road uni's too. Louisville is really solid this year. They have depth and quality...will be a big game for Cincy. Weather looks like it will be cooperating more this weekend too. Wonder if Attendance could actually go up....

I also loved the inaugural scarf's they sold. Pretty sweet design.

Man Sean Okoli is good though... He is so dang big at 6'1/190 that he just bully's defenders.... His goal was pretty nasty. FC Cincy had some good movement and build up play the first 60 minutes of the game. After that I think they tried to sit on it and the other team started pressing really high and it caused some issues but I was surprised with the level of play.

Okoli reminds me of Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool. Big, Strong, and for his size has a lot of pace.

Wanted to go to the game tonight vs. Louisville FC (perfect weather), but we decided to go to Spring game/Keeneland. We'll go to a game soon.

Fantastic atmosphere in this game. Louisville brought a lot of fans - likely over 20k there. Both teams have great uniforms.
