Nope. He was very authentic, and came off very well (as I'd expect). Thought he nailed it.
Though I'm sure those that hate him will find issues with it...I mean, why drop Kevin Jones name unless you're trying to piss off PSU fans, right?

Hokie fans really seem to be gobbling up the hiring of Blubbering James. It's almost as if they never watched a Franklin coached Penn State game with him tethered to his laminated Denny's menu.

I wish him nothing but the best. I think VT is a good match for him. I am more excited to see who the next PSU coach is going to be....
It’s a difference in expectations. SEC Shorts basically brought this up a few weeks ago but with Arkansas as the example.
They had an Arkansas fan wanting to pick Franklin as their new coach and a PSU fan saying don’t do it. The Arkansas fan says ‘why because we might lose to a top 5 team? We’re just trying to get to the Liberty bowl! We are not the same’.

He did a ton for Penn State but crashed and burned; maybe the expectations were too much? Dunno. Time to move on. That said, he's already brought up the airport and facilities at VT, so might be fun to keep an eye on that....

But he not only said Penn State’s name, he thanked Penn State…that should slow down some of the whining.

And they will twist themselves into a pretzel trying to make every minute detail a reason why he was bad. I’m afraid they will learn the hard way he wasn’t as bad as they think.

So many miserable guys in their Mom’s basement. ‘We expect perfection. We DESERVE it.’
It’s a game with other coaches and players trying just as hard. But ‘we deserve’ to win at like 80% of big games and 100% of all other games. And how many of these guys donate or support in any way other than yelling at the TV because they go undefeated on PlayStation college football? Oh and then aggressively demanding a coach be fired because he is ‘that bad’.
