It’s already starting at vo tech. I wonder if Franklin, the AD, and president/chancellor/supreme leaderer there are maligned aligned.

I got good chuckle out of that article. If BGJ had improved at clock management and game preparation, he would still be at Penn State with a much better chance at winning championships.

Nope, the exiting team would not be gone by the time the new coach was named .... and you wouldn't have made Franklin one of the biggest competitors for their services. The new coach, depending on who it was, would have stood a much better shot at holding a good portion of the roster and his major competitor would not be James Franklin at a new home. You can say it makes no difference, but that's farcical and just because you say it doesn't make it so.
And we would still owe Franklin $49 million.

Franklin's coaching failure this season is an epic failure that no coach should survive. You can like Franklin and appreciate the job that he did at PSU, but you cannot defend his performance this season. This team was ranked #2 with a ton of returning, proven talent from a team that was one play away from making it to the championship game. The administration gave him everything he asked for this season, including the most expensive Defensive Coordinator in the Country. Yet the team was inexplicably terrible.

The fact that Franklin found another job that saved the University $40 million establishes that it was a good decision to fire him mid-season.
Where did I say it wasn’t? My comment was directed at the comments made by Kraft. Hope that helps you out.

There is still a plan and there are tons of staff involved just as there has always been. It’s not like it’s radio silence with the recruits and they’re just wandering off to find a new home because they haven’t heard from Penn State in 6 weeks. There is constant contact with current recruits and new offers being sent.
Which explains why most of the 2026 recruits have decommitted and moved on right? Sounds like a helluva plan to me.

Are you completely missing the timing of when we'll likely hire a new coach vs the timing of the transfer portal opening (and the fact that firing Franklin at the end of November still gives Virginia Tech plenty of time to hire him, thus changing nothing)?
So we only need to add players via the portal huh? Brilliant! Positively brilliant!

@Nitt1300. Look at who was leaving this year and the lack of experience with our depth. It was going to be a portal heavy year and unlikely a playoff one. Won't get much worse than the 3-3 start this year with losses to NW and UCLA. A low bar was set.

Just remember, he's a player's coach... lol...

Contrast that comment with this...

https://www.menshealth.com/fitness/a69019804/coaches-cael-sanderson-penn-state-wrestling/

Mesenbrink says one thing that stands out about Sanderson is his humility. "You’d never know about his accomplishments. He never brags. Never talks about his success. If anything, he’ll share a mistake he made so you can avoid it.

What comment did he make there that we're supposed to be contrasting (or take issue with)?

"I'm a players coach." The guy simply talks too much.
Yea, it usually works out better when people don't talk in Press Conferences announcing their hiring. (and note that those words weren't mentioned once in the article you quoted)

You'd never hear Cael talk like that..... That was the point.

You ain’t seen bad yet, but it’s coming.

No, we saw bad. 3 - 3 for the first 6 games all while going into the season with thought on winning it all. That's bad. #BESTROSTEREVER.
