The Big 12 has named Brett Yormark as its next commissioner, the conference announced Wednesday. Yormark, who received a five-year initial contract, will start on August 1.

That ought to be an interesting clash of cultures, Yormark and a bunch of college presidents. And if they don't come around to his way of thinking, he can always enlist his wife's family to take care of it.

excellent hire…..given the player compensation environment changes with the NCAA , his skill set fits right in. He has some serious talent management skills, marketing and entertainment compensation contract experience. Of course, his biggest hurdles will be managing up to his bosses…the University Presidents and their willingness to live with and perhaps leverage the new compensation for players and the continued “ arms race” with improving facilities.
