They've made a huge move into Columbus the last couple years. I'm thrilled with it, because we previously had nothing better than Speedway, which is absolute garbage.
Ditto. I swap off between Kroger (discount points for groceries) and Sheetz for my gas. Just wish they had real TastyKakes--around here all you can find are the ones they started making as Hostess imitations (fried pies not baked for example).

Is Sheetz still family owned? I guess Wawa feels it has successfully copied enough of Sheetz innovations to go head to head with them. And they have Mare.

Those fried, glazed pies are terrible.

On a related note, I had a standing argument with my son who is a '21 PSU grad as to if Sheetz was more of a restaurant or a gas station. I said gas station. He said restaurant.

On one of our trips taking him back to State College, he smugly pointed to a highway sign that listed "Food Next Exit ... Sheetz".

I hate him.

This seems like as good a place as any for the following nonsense:

Here in NEW JERSEY. o_O , we have QuickChek in addition to Wawa. My wife and I much prefer Wawa, but tonight, we decided to stop at QuickChek on the way home from a coffee shop (o_O) to grab dinner.

I navigate the touchscreen kiosk to place my order and feel like I’m losing it. Where are the meatball subs? So I ask the person making sammiches. “No. We stopped offering meatball subs about a year ago.” Obviously I don’t go to QuickChek often, but what kind of horse-a$$ is this? No meatball subs? For f*ck’s sake.

We went to Wawa. QuickChek sucks. They’re dead to me.

When my niece was in high school in Gettysburg, someone asked her what was her favorite restaurant. She replied "Sheetz." Very discriminating taste!

Same with my daughter at Slippery Rock.

That's funny. :)

I've never heard of any of these stores referred to as "restaurants". As much of a Wawa person as I am, that description would not come to mind even for them.

To me, it's the age old conundrum of "Which came first, the convenience store or the gas station?". Imo, all of Wawa, Sheetz, and Rutters and similar ilk are either 1. convenience stores with gas stations, or 2. gas stations with convenience stores. Restaurants? Even with Wawa's far superior coffee, food, and dairy, it's the stretch of all stretches to consider Wawa a restaurant.

We have a relatively recently built Royal Farm near my house and a Wawa is being built right across the street from it. I'm going to finally see / taste what all the hubbub is all about.

Wawa announces major expansion into Central Pa, Tennessee , Florida Panhandle, South Alabama, North Carolina. Ultimately….the multi year national expansion will double the size of the current number of stores As they become more of a nationwide provider vs their current footprint.
Neither Wawa nor Sheetz can hold a candle to Quiktrip out of Texas.

Interesting that you mention QT Stores. My youngest daughter works with their Corp Group in HR. Loves working with them….recruited her out of College.
Great company. Best employees of any of their competitors.
