It’s almost like it’s not about the opponent. Like it might be something we’re doing, possibly? Hate to be critical at all of a coach who’s started out so well though, so no, it must be dumb luck.
It’s the fact that our defense is too old school. It’s predicated on leaving someone on the perimeter wide *** open when the ball gets to the baseline, one side or the post. And we’re too slow on rotations to pick them up and get caught in between two or more perimeter players while the ball is passing around to the most open shooter. IMHO. And we don’t show different looks or make meaningful adjustments enough.
The game has changed. Every team is stacked with taller, longer and better shooters than us. I think we should be giving more dunks, for less threes, but our coaches think we’ll get beat that way.

I agree, back a long time ago I was a Basketball Coach for several years. We used to run and jump and defense which is pretty much what you see Jans doing. Now we did it more by pressing full court and only trapping in the corner or sides. But you are correct as the three-point line can kill the run and jump defense at half court.

OU took advantage of our switching on defense by making Murphy defend Fears on the switch where he had a speed and quickness advantage and he made the most of it.

I think by now opposing shooters circle the matchup with us and in the days preceding the game do nothing but shoot. The coach game plans and tells them this is their game to go off since we suck at defending the 3 so they come in ready to go

I can remember playing church league ball back in the day, and during warmups, I wouldn’t leave the court til I hit ten consecutive 3s. I rarely failed to do that, but the funny thing is that I was probably a career 10% in game shooter from deep.

Playing against us is like an uncontested warm up drill for most of these guys
