February consumer confidence comes in lighter than expected in latest sign of slowing economy

Deloitte anticipates that consumer spending will grow 3.1% year over year in 2025.

Consumer Confidence reached an all time high of 111.40 points in January of 2000 and a record low of 50.00 points in June of 2022.

Wonder who was president during that record low?

The Conference Board reported that its consumer confidence index sank this month to 98.3 from 105.3 in January. That's far below the expectations of economists, who projected a reading of 103, according to a survey by FactSet.

The seven-point drop was the biggest month-to-month decline since August of 2021.

Consumer confidence was 6% lower under Biden than when he took office.
