Well I'm back. Sorry about last week, but I was truly off the grid for 5 days. Let me tell ya, it's kind of nice not having any phone or computer communications for a week. But now it's time for upsets. For this weeks upset we go to the North Suburban 8. Admittedly I no expert on the Northern Burbs, but I figure I'll give it a go. This weeks upset is ..........the unranked , 2-2 Scouts of Lake Forest over the #19 ranked Wildcats of Libertyville. I've always been a fan of how the Scouts play ball. They usually have a very solid defense, are never back down from a tough schedule. Libertyville has struggled on defense this year, giving up 60 points in a 2 week span. I like Lake Forest this week. Final score......Lake Forest 28 - Libertyville 21. That's my upset. What are your thoughts, and who is your upset?

Welcome back Feeto. Curious about which Lake Forest team shows up. The one that looked real good weeks 1-2 or the one that couldn't stop you and me the last two weeks. Lib gave up 60 in a two week span, LF has given up 94 the last two weeks.

I think the Cats get them this time - hoping for a good game.

I will go slight 1 with Metea over Waubonsie. I was gonna say LP over WN but that is not really an upset.

I am going to take 4-0 Marmion Cadets over 1-3 Montini Bronco in Lombard.
But is it really an upset if a 4-0 team with larger enrollment beats a smaller 1-3 squad?
The only thing Bronco has going for it is playing at home and their reputation.
I think MA will be psyched out of their mind and grind one out in a very physical game.

Bronco 20

Bronco would be 4-0 if they played Cadet's schedule so far....and Cadet would 0-4 if they played Bronco's schedule. I like Bronco in this one.

I'm taking the 0-4 Titans of Glenbrook South over the 3-1 Wolves of Niles West tonight in Skokie.

South has lost to four teams with combined records of 15-1. West lost their only game against a team with a winning record (Schaumburg). The other three teams they beat have combined records of 2-10, with only one of those wins being convincing (Lane Tech).

After tonight, GBS has games remaining against MS, Evanston, NT and Niles North. This game against NW is probably one of just two realistic opportunities the Titans have left to avoid going winless this year. Rough season for first year head coach (and GBS grad) David Schoenwetter.

you to start picking a bonus pick, but it must be one of the DSR teams to lose.

Sorry guys - Crazy week of work and the thunderstorms and travel delays a nightmare. I had a great top 5 interesting games I wanted to post but work/travel got in the way... AND - there are SO MANY interesting games this week - it is totally overwhelming. I would have had to leave out so many games - Im sure I would have been heckled and boo'd off the peanut gallery stands all day. I had a nice theme on Star Wars going to weave into it. I will save it for next week as too late to post with kickoff in 8 hours.

For my Feeto upset pick of the week - can I go with GBN over NN? NN is undefeated and GBN has a loss - will that qualify;)

Less inclination to pick LWW (4-0) over hosting H-F (4-0) than might have been the case a few weeks ago. West defensive unit is their strength and their offense may have to tools to control the ball some, but their starting QB did not play last week. However, if H-F gets their usual number of offensive touches and can get the ball in open space without molestation, it could be yet another one-sided affair. Past unsuccessful match-ups with the likes of skill-stocked teams like Thornton and Bradley-Bourbonnais may point to some trouble tonight for West.

Welcome back! Regarding your upset, Libertyville's D giving up 60 pts in a 2 week span is a bit misleading. Against Batavia the game went 3 OT's. End of regulation the score was 17 all and not for the IHSA's rules being behind the times and Lib's coaching, Libertyville should have won 17-14. As for the Warren game, Warren scored on a 70 yard fumble return for a TD and a kickoff return. Their D gave up only 14 pts to a talented offense.
Tonight's game should be a good one and hope your upset pick is wrong.

Hoffman over Palatine... But not really picking it as much as rooting for it. Hoffman probably needs to go 2-3 in the MSL-W to get in after their 4-0 start. Tough league. Tough two

Dang! :)

Is it too late for me to submit another? I will go against my prediction pick in the DVC thread and go with WWS over NC. They down 21-0 at half so this would be a HUGE upset!! WWS playing to stay alive mathematically for the playoffs.

Take a look at my post time...it was before the game started! Have a little cheese with your Whine while you lament your "best" defense or team EVER! Hahahahahaha. I'm sure GBW will do just fine the remainder of the regular and post season.

Such a great guy JWar. You never let me down
