Last week of the regular season, and I have a .500 record. This is a big week. We'll go to the West Suburban Silver conference for this weeks game. This weeks pick is.......The 7 - 1, #10 ranked (unranked in the DSR) Huskies of Oak Park River Forest over the Undefeated #5 ranked (#10 in the DSR) Red Devils of Hinsdale Central. Tonight's game is in Hinsdale, and the winner takes the conference crown. I picked against OPRF a few weeks ago, and I figure I owe one to Coach Hoerster and his Huskies. Both of these teams have amazing offenses, and put up huge amounts of points. The difference tonight will be the OPRF defense. If you take away that GW game, OPRF has only allowed 9 points per game. These 2 teams have 5 common opponents this year. The games I find most notable are the ones verse LT. HS beat them in a very close 28 - 21 game. The Huskies on the other hand pounded them by a final of 27 - 3. I like OPRF tonight. Final score...........Huskies 27 - Red Devils 14. That's my upset. What are your thoughts, and who is your upset?

if this happens. I officially call this year -- the year everything changed...or the outlier. Not sure which, of if that should be the total title.

Really? Who? I would say Naz has the best shot being in 5A. Depending on matchups, I could see everyone out after round 2.

Based on the Souc projections, Naz could have a tough time getting out of round 1. Tough team if the draw works out that way.

HC has not matched up well against OPRF in the past few years. Also important to note that HC has not been healthy in the past couple weeks. I'm not sure if their guys will be back tonight but, given how the WSS has been over the last five or so years, I wouldn't call OPRF over HC much of an upset.

So the most realistic upsets in order of the top games playing
1) OPRF over HC
2) Geneva over West Aurora
3) GBN over NV
4) Schaumburg over Palatine
5) Rice over LA

5A is truly the dumpster fire of classes this year. Depending on matchups, I'll consider it, but unlikely.
Of course all depending on Draws but can see. Naz, Marist, Viator, and Benet. Getting to the quarters. Winning not so sure.

Why would it be that much of a shock? The only playoff team MC has beaten is a 2nd division CPS team.

I think it will say a lot for the PC program a win and they will knock a rival out. They have lost to three of the top four teams in the state. Had Rita beat on the road and played Fenwick tough on the road.

That schedule is insane after the fact. Prior to week one, Rice's schedule looked insane but ESL and Fenwick are arguably better than Marist and Montini.

As with MC if Providence had gotten into the playoffs who knows how far they would have gone. An MC win and they could win state a loss and they and Providence sit out.

Pc will have to have a 2 score lead at halftime if they are going to win. Their coaching staff has been horrendous at half time adjustments. Esl is actually the only game where Pc has been trailing at half.

Correct forgot about last week. That was a game that was chalked up as a loss prior to The season because Pc never plays good in wilmette.

They could have played on the Emerald Isle and wouldn't have made a difference.

Not this year but historically they play terrible in wilmette all the way back to the early 2000s. It's a long trip from new Lenox to wilmette on Saturday morning. Also pc for some reason has played at LA 4 out of last 5 years. Loyola has the best home field advantage in the Catholic league by playing Saturday afternoon games.

I don't think PC has beaten LA in 8 years, or so.
