This one's easy!!!!!! I made this pick 2 of the last 3 years and nailed it, I only wish I'd have picked it last year to break the O'Feet season curse. This weeks pick is ....... The unranked 3-3 Redhawks of Marist over the # 3 ranked Roadrunners of Nazareth Academy. Why????? because Marist always beats Naz, it's what they do. I wasn't going to pick the Redhawks this year, but after seeing them outplay the Caravan (even though they lost) last week, I changed my mind. Key to the game tonight, DON'T TURN THE BALL OVER !!!!!!! Every time Marist was about to score, they turned it over. Give a guy like JJ McArthy an opening like that and he'll make you pay. Word is the Marist has finally made a decision at QB, and that should really help the offense. It's going to be a thriller tonight on 115th st. Final score...... Marist 35 - Nazareth 28. That's my upset for this week. What are your thoughts, and who is your upset?

That's the easy pick. I seen this one coming for weeks. Marist is a good team. And you hit the nail on the head. I think in all 3 of their losses the offense looks great only to shoot themselves in the foot in the redzone.

If Naz is a true 7A contender, they should beat Marist. This game will be a good indicator, since the Roadrunners haven't been challenged since Week 1. I know it's been beaten death, but being placed in the Orange has done Naz no favors this year or next.

But we lost to them last year. Pretty bad actually. That didn't matter in 7A. Some teams just reside in others head.

I know Marist has had Naz' number. Didn't realize to what extent until reading Edgy's preview: "Marist has beaten Nazareth Academy three straight seasons by a combined score of 110-28. Can the Redhawks make it four straight?"

You made this pick two of the last 3 years but not last year? Explain to me how it was an upset (on paper) in 2016?

oh its all fresh in my mind. Even the dominate 2014 team was losing at half, and the almost as good 2015 team had to win a shootout 62-45.

The biggest upset of week 7 already happened with Phoenix beating Marine.

Next up on the upset board is Solorio vs Curie. Curie is the better team and the bigger school. Both of these things were true last year as well. But the Solorio Sun Warriors beat them TWICE last year. Just like Marist has Naz’s number three Solorio Sun Warriors have the answer to beating LaCurie.

2-4 Manteno over 5-1 Peotone...The Route 50 Rumble...Arch-Rivals. Panther Homecoming. The Panther's stiff schedule pays off on what is always the biggest game of the year...35-28 Panthers.
sighs ... Me right now:

Does Solorio have the talent this year though? Curie is as solid as a CPS program goes. Solorio had a hell of a player the last couple years.

Curie has been a shell of its old self since McDonaugh left. The last two years they've played terrible football and are only worried about offers and college visits. Solorio is much better coached and will make the adjustments to beat them.

That’s why I posed the question. Probably should have put a question mark on it though. Thought Curie still had a good program even though he did leave, and mistakenly thought Solorio relied on a stud the last couple of years. Good to know.

It was the QB a few years ago and this past year their DB/WR was a stud. Think he went to NIU? Not as single player heavy as those years but we shall see if the upset is in the cards. My guess would be yes

Quincy Patterson graduated from Solorio in 2018 and headed to Va Tech. Jay McDounagh left Curie 2 years ago. Curie went down and Solorio actually went up, playing for the CPS Championship last year.

outplay the Caravan

The Caravan's opportunistic defense may have had something to do with the Marist fumbles. Sacks, interceptions, and forced fumbles have been the trademark of this defense all season long. Credit the players and Coach Lenti for creating what may be the second-best defense in Chicago.
