It's semi-final week, and there are no easy games out there this week. I've had an interesting year thus far picking 6 upsets in 12 weeks. How have I gotten there this year? The Chicago Catholic League. That's why this weeks pick is not a single team, but a conference. This weeks upset pick is.....The entire CCL Blue. That's right, I'm going with all 3 remaining teams. I don't see Loyola as an upset, but I think they will go down state an crush Edwardsville. Final score LA 42 - E-ville 14. Providence on the other hand will be a big upset. Coming in as a 13 seed with 4 regular season losses vs the 2 seed Nazareth. Provi plays all the best teams all year, and that's why they will win tomorrow. Final score Provi 24 - Naz 17. The biggest upset of the day will be my Mt. Carmel Caravan. MC goes up to Lake Zurich to play the hottest team in the state. MC is a banged up 18 seed, but they have tons talent. Coach Frank is the winningest coach in state history for a reason (that's for you 69181SJM). Final score MC 21 - LZ 17. Those are my upset picks. What are your thoughts, and who is your upset? It's all part of picking upsets. I thought STL would match up well because of their speed on the offensive side of the ball. Didn't mean I'd lost respect for Provi. Can't win em all.
"Snake-oil salesman"???????? I'll have to disagree on that. When I pick an upset, I truly believe that it will happen. A snake-oil salesman tries to push something he knows is a bad deal. Now admittidly, I'll pick with my heart at times, but I still belive in my picks. Not to mention, 6 wins this year.

Eddieville better be able to pass a little better than they did when I saw them against Minooka or it's going to be a blowout. Loyola isn't going to gift wrap 14 points on special teams like the Indians did.

Usually rain and wind in the past has had no impact on LZ's offense but this year with the passing?? Could be an issue. I guess the same could be said for mount carmel pitching the ball in the veer. The MC QB is going to get a workout today.
Great points. Pitching a slippery ball with the LZ defense could lead to a bunch of turnovers and/or significant TFLs. I think MC's luck runs out today and it won't be pretty.
