Was this his best offer or something? Legitimately asking, I have no idea. Just hard to make sense of why one would use their last year of eligibility at Arkansas right now, especially when a year ago you were the starting QB of a 10 win team.

I’m kind of enjoying this new annual tradition where Arkansas picks one of the shittiest QB’s in the SEC as its starter for the following season.

Because Mullen favors upper class men over talent.

Hard to believe that they could be worse but this just might do it.

I don't think Franks is all that but he's significantly better than Hicks and Starkel.

Franks passing efficiency rating by years where he was a starter:
2019: 173.4 (just 3 games)
2018: 143.4
2017: 113.3

2019: 109.4 (Starkel), 94.6 (Hicks)

He makes some awful throws and decisions at times but still had 31 TDs (passing and rushing) in 2018 which was 3rd among SEC QBs.

Will probably have two years with Ark

He only played in 3 games last year before his season ending injury. I read where he is expected to get a medical redshirt for last year, giving him two years with the Hogs. Assuming of course if he wants to play two years there.

He already redshirted in 2016. Generally, you don't get a 6th year unless BOTH years you want to redshirt are medical redshirts. But you never know with the NCAA. He'll have to play this year and then petition for a 6th year.

Went back and read the article on him and it sounds like you are correct.........

"It was not immediately clear if Franks will have one season of eligibility or two at Arkansas. Because he was injured so early in the 2019 season, he could apply for a “medical redshirt” and get a sixth season in 2021."
