The $750 is not a loan. I’m sorry, I respect you, but it’s just not correct information.

You need to go read the FEMA link I provided. It says it's a loan. If you have a problem with that take it up with Mayorkas. This Administration is the most incompetent Administration I have witnessed in my lifetime. At this point it's got to be intentionally done. Why? Because I have seen some screwed up **** in my 30+ years of Government Service. The last 4 years are absolutely the worst. Got to be done on purpose. No other reason for it.

Which FEMA link is it? I’m happy to take a look, but I can’t seem to find it.

Look, I love the WVU community, and I understand that there could be many on this board that have been impacted by Helene. My only goal is to make sure factual information gets spread. It’s not a Republican vs Democrat thing for me. I just want people to understand the assistance that could be available to them if they’ve been impacted.

What you will find out is that we have several on this board that bite in hook-line-sinker on every Twitter rumor or conspiracy theory or misinformation. I hate social media, but these guys live on it and by it. It's sad.

Says the guy who recites the media's talking points about why he hates Trump.

This thread makes me laugh. I have no idea what is going on or not going on in the destruction zone but it is amusing to watch all the suckers. The same administration that told us Biden was mentally fine and not to believe the stories about his cognitive condition is now telling us not to believe stories questioning the competency of this administration's response.

Morons here fall for this **** every day. This thread is a perfect example.

The problem is that the $750 is serious needs assistance, not temporary housing assistance.
Temporary housing assistance are the equivalent of refugee camps. I’ve seen the FEMA trailers. Trace the money to the winning bidders on that one. Lol

I’ve never been inside one so I can’t comment. But housing assistance does come in different forms (rental assistance, hotel assistance, etc). It doesn’t necessarily mean trailers.

Biff is Putin’s greatest weapon to destabilize our country. I wonder if they talk on the phone everyday about destroying our democracy.
Leftist marxist are so uneducated. The United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic.

What does this mean?

“Constitutional” refers to the fact that government in the United States is based on a Constitution which is the supreme law of the United States.

Putin endorsed Harris goofball. Apparently he's not done with Ukraine who he invaded on her watch.

Look, I don’t doubt that there are still many people that have serious needs. I understand that and am not questioning that part at all. But I do think that all the local/federal partners that are involved are doing the best they can. The reality is that this disaster covers a huge amount of land. In many places the roads and infrastructure are gone, and unfortunately it takes time.

DeSantis mobilized 8,000 National Guard 36 hours prior to Milton making landfall.

36 hours prior to Helene's first bands touching NC, I warned family in the mountains to get out. Of course they didn't, they stayed and are help cleaning up. My warning was based on the NWS Greenville dire predictions. Governor Cooper didn't lift a finger beyond requesting a state of emergency. No mandatory evacs, no pre-positioned Guard, no warnings in the state press... NOTHING.

North Carolina's NG wasn't on site until Monday, +5 days after the dire warnings. Florida's NG beat NC's to the disaster. Military wasn't on site for over a week after. Summary from all of this: Governor Cooper is inept.

FEMA has blocked some people from landing. FEMA has requisitioned some private resources to "inventory" it. FEMA has blocked some rescuers from entering certain areas. The vast majority have been left alone, but those events have happened.

The waterways are poisoned. The roads are gone. People are homeless. The dead are buried in feet of toxic mud. This mess will be here for decades, if civilization lasts that long.

Western NC update:

Rescue operations because of Helene itself are over. There will still be rescues concerning additional mudslides and people with inadequate housing with harsh weather conditions. Recovery is underway.

FEMA only appears to be pencil pushers and functions a lot like the DMV. North Carolina's PR attempt yesterday by Governor Roy Cooper, NCDHHS, FEMA, and others appeared to me as a disaster, but the friendly press will cover for him. There is a huge gap between official numbers of dead and missing, and what the private resource groups have documented. The government says less than 100 dead and less than 100 missing, the dead mostly from Asheville. The day prior, a Brevard television station attempted to contact FEMA, county officials, and the like to obtain missing KPI. None were able to comply. They did not have an official list.

One rescuer in Swannanoa detailed 140 dead from local sheriffs and private rescue groups. A private firm was tasked with shipping 10,000 bodybags. A public spreadsheet for identifying the missing and found still has around 1,200 missing as of yesterday. A local funeral home was asked to volunteer a freezer truck and crew to assist. We are hours away. I can't imagine how many other funeral homes were asked.

After FEMA attempted to take credit for the initial Starlinks that private citizens funded and installed, I don't accept anything about this disaster from the government at face value. Everything will need to be verified. I want to blame it on incompetence, because the other possibilities are too evil.

People are better off preparing to help themselves and their communities in these situations. FEMA may eventually do a little but for the most point are always a day late and a dollar short.

What are rambling about? Biden went overseas last night to get away from Harris. Apparently he's going to do the bare minimum to keep his family out of prison.

You morons should have stuck with Biden. He had a better chance of winning. He would have gotten impeached or the 25th Amendment and she would have gotten promoted. You clowns went with the Coup because that's what Communist do and you couldn't help yourselves. LMFAO. Really bad call.

Should have always been on the states .
I can't remember the president that said it wasn't up to the people of Ohio to help the people of Texas. It was during a Texas flood I believe.
Can someone help me with this ....what president and what state was in trouble? I've looked and can't find it .

What an intelligent response.

If you want to call out specifics that you think are false then I’m happy to respond. I feel like this should be a forum for intelligent debate and I want nothing more than the truth to be provided.

What did I say that was inaccurate?

You're wasting your time. All they'll do is call you dumb and say that Trump won. They're nonresponsive to thread topics so all you can hope is that you educate them a little. Riverguideer's IQ is just below the rock that held him under and caused his brain damage. Go easy on him. I took him and a couple others off ignore for a bit and it's been a big mistake.
