I also feel that West is not at 100% with his wrist but he has great speed and can spread the defense so that Smith is not the focus of the defense..

I don't think Shilgalis is 100% either from last years late season injury. He is a great route runner and has good hands but I noticed on kickoffs he is always running out of bounds to the sidelines on the kickoffs instead of trying to run the ball up the middle and break a big one. I don't think he did that before the injury. This tells me he still is not 100% yet either.

this is a funny post

The big difference with the visiting stands at Montini and other places are at other places the visiting stands are not only behind the track but also behind a fence (like Triton or your average 7A and 8A schools). At Montini the visiting stands are in front of the fence and in front of the track so you are right on the field. They are also elevated as Triton they are not.

Naz and Montini visiting stands are the best ever by far because no other place can you get that close to the field.

I have sat in the visitor stands at both stadiums (and home @ Naz too), never at Triton. I was laughing at the "you yourself being in the game" part though.

But they are very long running from the 20 to the 20 and the key is they are inside of the track and right on the field. They are the best visiting seats in the state with the exception of Nazareth. You not only see everything, you hear the hitting, you hear the coaches and it's like you, yourself are playing in the game.
If proximity of the visitor bleachers to the action and sidelines is your preference, go watch a game at Marist. You are very near the field, and you can hear the visitor coaches as plain as day.

I'm not sure how any player doesn't get hurt at Marist. There's probably only 15 ft. between the action and the fence.

No track around the football field at Red & White Stadium. Home bleachers give you the same advantage.

The seats at Triton are a joke! I moved all over the field and could not see anything.

Best visitor stands in the state? Did you ever look at MCC visitor stands? Everything you mentioned above with more rows of seats, approximately 1200 seating, and a press box exclusive for the visiting team! It don't get much better! Gotta love high school football!

Now if they could add field Turf it would be overall top notch facility, just need to import some refs;)

MrT,

That cow pasture sucks! Nothing more needs to be said about the stands, sideline, or lighting. Now if you want to talk about the refs and their homecoooking we could discuss that(on a different thread). Sorry didn't mean to sidetrack this thread but I couldn't leave that post go.

Turf would have probably been added if certain decisions would have been different a couple of years ago. The current staff now looks at it as an advantage, example, last years NAZ game!

jwarigaku, Please fill me in on how the place is a cow pasture when it comes to the stands, sideline, and lighting! I must be missing something or I haven't been to enough fields to compare! This itself should probably be another thread along with the refs, home cooking issue!

There are 2 real problems with MCC field. The grass is torn up almost immediately in the season which sucks and the fence in the North endzone is about 1 foot out of bounds. Totally unsafe. The visitor stands are great and the visitor pressbox is a great touch.

I agree on the turf getting tore up fast. the base of it is peet. When its a little to wet it tares out fast! When its too dry it also tares out fast! Turf definitely would have fixed that! When it comes to the end zone out abounds to the fence, I believe the South really isn't that much different than the North. I would like to see some type of cushion on the fence! It would be great for putting some type of advertising for school sponsers! I can't recall anybody running in to the fence and getting hurt yet, but that's not saying it couldn't happen!

Shigalis had a bad injury last year and I am sure that there is a little apprehension running back the kickoffs. I seen what you seen on his running out of bounds. I agree he is a good route runner and has good hands. Quaglia and Karczewski can both run back kickoffs and both have been very successful in the past taking it to the house in frosh and soph games.

I hope that Montini mom wasn't complaining about transfers.
It was just a comment made and I didn't notice any type of animosity in the way she said it. Quite frankly, I don't know if what she said is is true or not. Maybe some Fenwick fans could fill that part in.

Worst homecooking from refs in the state! Have never heard so many visiting teams complain about a road game like Marian Central. Also in pre-game, going back to when I played against them in the late 90s, the mosquitoes on the dark warm up field were the size of birds.

You understand that peat comes from a bog/mire right? Are you beginning to see the issue?

You and Wassup have obviously been at a lot more HS games than I so I will defer to you guys when it comes to visitor stands. Triton's visitor stands were by far the worst stands I have been at which includes many southwest suburban and Coal City home and away games I have been to,

The size of birds? That's a good one and back then would have to agree with you! When was the last time you were there?

Last played in the fall of '99 for a 27-20 loss but was there in 2008 too to see my younger brother's team actually get a win there.

When it comes to the turf, I totally agree! There was some light at the end of the tunnel to get that possibly fixed, but as of now that light has been extinguished!:(

Cool! I believe in 2008 that would have been IC or St. Francis! Probably St. Frances, boy that was a muddy night! I do believe we had a 2 hour storm delay that night!

IC. That was an awesome game. Ic held on with a 4th and goal stop with 2 minutes left in the game. Ic doesn't win that game they probably don't go on to win state that year.

Theres different things...

Rice's are definitely small and low... and nothing really good about them except the time I went to a playoff game there vs Sandburg and some nice co-ed invited me under the blanket since it was so cold and we were already scrunched...

As scrunched as it is, I actually prefer that to the mosquitoes and wood bleachers over at Providence... spend lots of time walking to get some of the "best popcorn in the Catholic League" as to not end up a meal yourself with splinters in your butt.

Still, it may not be as bad as Hinsdale Central which has a wonderful campus, but you feel so far from the action you may as well be up the street at Papadeaux's... and the lighting is bad so even if you were close enough to see, you cant once the sun goes down.

And yet, while I enjoy the home side at OPRF as one of the best venues, I always have pity for the visitor side... never sat there to know exactly how bad it really is.

Visitor side at LWE is awful because we never get a win...

As for "Home cooking" if MCC holds a candle to Sandburg I would be shocked. Better home cooking than your grandma's house at Thanksgiving.

I try to sit on the visitor side at The Brook because I'm an old curmudgeon now and kids need to sit down and watch the game. But thats only if the visitor bleachers a sparse.

Naperville Central's new upgraded facilities are excellent for visitors. No better place to celebrate a semi-final victory.

Yep, I remember telling a couple of your players stay focused and you will win state! Was very proud of IC that year except for that night of course!

Would that be a disaster thread with insults and accusations being tossed back and forth or what:p

I must say I have been down in the south end of the state for a game or two (I wont say where - I don't want to stir up a hornet's nest). One time it was very well officiated. another more recent time - I was dumbfounded with more than a couple of calls.

How about the best stadium food. I remember the pork chop back in the day at Walther Lutheran to be top notch.
